When Hastert took the postition that a Congressman’s office should be safe haven for running a criminal enterprise (The William ‘Cold Cash’ Jefferson case) , that’s when I knew he had to go.

just that the congressional leadership should have been consulted and the Capitol police should have formally executed the warrant (with the Feds along for the ride).
In other words, "congressional leadership" wants a heads-up so they can give the targeted crooked congressman a heads-up and the necessary time to heat up the shredder and spirit away the loot. Yeah, that sounds like a plan.
Lauzen is definitely running for Congress. Lauzen faced challenges from the both the fringe right and RINO left. In 2000, George Ryan recruited a Batavia school board member to run against Lauzen. He also faced an anti-immgration activist. He still won 2/3 of the vote in both the primary and general election that year.

Politicans use their identity for political gains. For example, Durbin touts his Downstate background and Irish heritage.

If that's a concern, post officers at the exits. Historically, Congress has not impeded criminal investigations, but has tried to limit access by the executive branch to confidential communications between members of Congress, r between members of Congress and constituents (and for that matter, lobbyists).
I'm sorry if the separation of powers is sometimes inconvenient for the executive, but it's a bedrock constitutional principle. In this case, a legitimate warrant was fairly applied, but if oficers of the executive branch are allowed to raid Capitol offices, it opens the door for a president to run roughshod over Congress (to an even greater degree).
No, no. I said the Hispanic Republican that dropped out of running for Congress apparently was the one in Heath Shuler’s district in NC, that being State Sen. Tom Apodaca.

Actually, Lauzen is only half Mexican (on his mother’s side) in ancestry. I hope he wins. Not only is he a good conservative, but he’s also a CPA, and we need more of those in Congress.
Oops, you’re right, you were talking about Apodaca. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. It’s a shame that Apodaca isn’t running (I take it he was scared off by Taylor’s money?), but I’m glad to read that Lauzen will be fighting to keep Hastert’s CD in conservative hands.
