A friend of my daughter just got married this summer. The wedding tab was closing in on $70,000. Both families split the bill. I can’t add more, because I am still shaking my head when I think of it...

$70k?

We just got married and were well under that - for everything. We even ended up paying for rooms and travel expenses for some of our guests and STILL came in well under that. Actually, came well under what this woman paid for her flowers.

That kind of money would have made a nice down payment on a house. Instead it was just dumped on a one-day costume party.

My DIL paid less than 2000 for her wedding (dress included) and it was beautiful. She and her mom did most of the decorating. The church fellowship hall cost 50 dollars and the student photographer did an excellent job. Her husband’s “tux” was furnished by the Navy.

I do not understand how anyone can spend that kind of money on a wedding. I could not live with myself.
