FORMER PRINCIPAL OF ARABIC SCHOOL WANTS JOB BACK

By YOAV GONEN and TATIANA DELIGIANNAKIS

October 16, 2007 --

The former principal of the city's controversial Arabic academy launched an 11th-hour effort yesterday to get her old job back - and then slapped her would-be employer with a free speech lawsuit.

MORE: How The Post Reported The Story

Debbie Almontaser submitted paperwork to be reinstated as principal of the Khalil Gibran International Academy, which she founded, in Brooklyn minutes before the application deadline expired.

She then announced she is suing the Department of Education over what she called her "forced" resignation as head of the school.

The Yemeni-native, who still holds an administrative position at Education Department headquarters, resigned from the school on Aug. 10 after a public outcry over her failure to condemn "Intifada NYC" T-shirts sold by an activist group with links to her. Those comments first appeared in The Post.

"They forced me to issue an apology for what I said and when the storm of hate continued they forced me to resign," she said yesterday at a press conference on the steps of City Hall.

Her supporters have demanded an investigation into the events leading to her stepping down and say she was the victim of a "campaign of smears and misrepresentation."

Always a sure-fire way to build friendships and insure a smoothly-running operation....first promote terrorism in your school, then sue your way back in after the public gets wind of what you're doing.

The absolute gall of some people is just mind-boggling..

Something makes me think I read that she was a Yemeni Jew. If that’s true, she is self-hating as well.

“and then slapped her would-be employer with a free speech lawsuit.”

Since when, under the constitution, is anyone (other than the Government)required to guarantee anyone free speech?

This sentence says it all. The People demanded it, she resigned... What a moron.

I would wish to suggest that there's also a major issue that she 'appears' to be completely overlooking, which is that there are indeed limits to free speech.  Nobody has a Free Speech 'right' to yell "fire!" in a crowded theater when there is no fire, and no nobody has a right to create absolute panic in a school and community by promoting a citywide Intifada via t-shirt verbiage.

The last time I checked, "Openly Promoting Terrorism In A School" was against the law.

My great hope is that not only will the judge take about four seconds to throw this suit completely out, but that our CIA, FBI and NSA Friends will have EVERY manner of wiretap and surveillance going on this b*tch 24/7 as well as all of her intifada-loving "friends"

Actually, there would be a FAR stronger case for her to be prosecuted for hate crimes and hate speech when one considers that she is a Yemeni advocating an intifada in New York City of all places.

This is about on par with some neo-Nazis in full brownshirt regalia marching down a major street in New York City and carrying banners that say "Complete The Final Solution".

storm of hate

Ah! The latest leftist/Islamist synonym for "speaking truth". Goes up on that overburdened shelf right between "smear" and "swiftboating".

And she's 'empowered' by groups like CAIR, who encourage Arabs to adopt such a corrosive, militant stance while shouting down anyone who dares to suggest that they may possibly be somewhat less patriotic than what other Americans might appreciate.

And she still holds an "administrative position" in the Education Department.

And she has lots of 'friends' and likeminded fellow-travelers; many of whom are even more militant than she is.

She should be thrown out of the country, our leaders have the spine to do what needs to be done.

"sigh" all too true.

I sincerely hope that a majority of voters will be able to see through such rhetoric next November.

Oh, what a beautiful picture you paint, of true Justice being done and of honorable leaders with a spine.

"sigh"

Imagine, if you will, what would happen if a Jew were to go to an Arab country, set up a Yiddish school and then print up T-shirts advocating a wholesale genocide of all Arabs.

(yes, I know that no Arab country would allow a Jew to even THINK about getting started with something like that, but I'm trying to make a point here  :-))

You would have the school burning in about ten minutes, the Jewish teacher hanging lifeless from a pole in the village square and the local police congratulating the "anti-Zionist patriots" for their Great Service to Islam.

Here, you have the equivalent 'teacher' making demands and filing lawsuits, with a massive groundswell of support behind her and no worries of any harm or problems whatsoever, as the police will protect her with everything they've got.

I hope so, too. Unfortunately, my confidence level is not high. I remember “Medicare cuts” all too well.
