I only see two options, both highly unlikely: Either they (the lib wingnuts) suddenly have a massive wake-up and decide to join the rest of us to save the nation, or we go to war against each other, with one side or the other being weakened or eliminated.
You’re not the only one who thinks in extremes. Every now and then, when I am thoroughly pissed off at the left, I feel a liberal/conservative war would be nice expecially when most of the troops that defend our country are from the Southern states. The massive wake-up call thingie is asking too much of them. Their delusions run too deep. Only another house on us by their “friends” in the middle east could possibly shake their liberal leftist foundations. Otherwise, I’m with you - totally clueless on a solution.

If the latter comes to pass, let's all hope they have been Thinking Globally and Acting Locally on all those idiotic gun control initiatives...

Yep. Disarm all blue states - now! Let’s see how tough they are with their hocky sticks and ski poles against a good old AK 47.

The Nobel Prize committee jumped the shark with this one.Oh, I don't know. There's an awful lot of meaning being attributed to what amounts to a useless gesture on the part of some far-left European liberals. For instance, off the top of your head, can you name last year's Nobel Peace Prize winner? How about the year before that? Yeah, me either. And, I would consider myself fairly well informed on current political events.
I think that this means the GW BS has reached its crecendo and will start to go away. And good riddance.

How do you peg it as being 2003? I figured they never grew up. They needed a war under a Republican administration to really get their inner moonbat going. They've been making believe they're back in the Vietnam era ever since.

"The divide in America today is striking. I dont know if it can ever be healed."
In my estimation it will only get worse. Especially if Hillary (who's getting a really huge azz by the way) becomes President. The negativity is prevalent in the media, congress and senate and it is driving this nation downward!
By the way, I'm a HUGE Browns fan and TRIBE fan. Tribe in 5 and the Rockies vs Indians in the 2007 World Series.

Its true that the divide is there, and its not likely to be healed.
However, what do you propose we do?
The true blue libs know who they are and what they are after: they are committed socialists and thus masters of exploitation of ANY and ALL schisms in society to further their cause of social collectivism. But (thankfully) their numbers are pretty minuscule in this land. Yet since 9/11 they've been able to pull the squishy middle, those noncommittal, apolitical "independents," those who don't know better and don't care to know either, to their side. Those independents, who would have run as if the Devil himself was after them IF they understood who and what they were endorsing, are the reason for the success of the leftists of our time.
We must stop griping -- or fighting -- amongst ourselves -- Rudy or Romney or Third Party! -- and speak more directly to those "independents" who are told over and over again that "war is bad" but never told what is even worst.
