So a former state employee is files suit in a state court, against a state university, because another state employee ran is mouth, so he can get state bucks (compliments of taxpayers). Did I state that right?
is filing
is=his
I’m in bad state
Duke is private.
Nope. this is a privately run United Methodist School, administered by a board of trustees (24 out of 36 of which various methodist conventions directly elect). The school has a 3 - 5 billion dollar private endowment that will be the deep pockets - no taxpayer funds involved.
The school did bad things, got sued, settled to keep it quiet, then broke their agreement not to blame things that happened on former employee, or slander him. the school renegged so Pressler is taking them back to court, probably knock down drag out this time.
Personally I hope that Univ. gets sued out of existence. It is an abomination.
>>Did I state that right?
No, you didn’t. Duke is private.
And he’d still have a case if Duke were public. If it were, it’d be a price taxpayers pay, for hiring idiots. Which is what the taxpayers of Durham are about to learn, when Durham finally gets hit with the results of all the suits they’re dealing with.

Duke is not taxpayer funded, it’s a private college, and it’s decided to employ idiot leftists that can’t keep their foolish mouths shut.
The coach deserves every dime he can get, even if it was on the taxpayers, which it isn't.
I thought that Duke was a private university... While it may get state funds, it's not on par with say, UNC...
Mark
No.
No. You are not correct. Duke University is a PRIVATE University, ergo, no state funds are paying for these settlements. Hopefully, no Alums are kickng their money into this Univesity either.
Clueless.
“So a former state employee is files suit in a state court, against a state university, because another state employee ran is mouth, so he can get state bucks (compliments of taxpayers). Did I state that right?”
Duke University - a PRIVATE research university
A more appropriate description would be a person is suing an organization because someone in whom the organization invested authority broke a legally binding agreement made by the organization
You're not suggesting that government institutions should be free to break contracts at will, are you?
No.
Duke is a private university, not a state school. The money will come from alumni and the ones I know are really angry. Not at the lawsuits themselves but at the behavior that led to them.
You stated it spectacularly wrong. Thanks for asking, though.
You’ve gotten corrected on that enough. :) There ARE lawsuits pending against the City of Durham and several associated government employees and entities, from the three players themselves...if those lawsuits pan out ($10 mil each, from what’s been reported), then those of us who pay taxes here in Durham are going to get pounded, because the city will, of course, never absorb the cost of its own negligence—they’ll just pass it on to us.
Personally, I plan to be out of here by the time that happens. :)
