Arpaio says there's no excuse and it's a "cop-out
Sheriff Joe Arpaio says if he can enforce the state's immigration law, other law enforcement agencies should be able to as well. Arpaio says his office enforces all the laws, and his office is doing it with a smaller staff compared to some police agencies. The Sheriff says he doesn't go around complaining he doesn't have enough resources. He says his office manages resources properly.
Also, Arpaio says the excuse of not going after misdemeanors doesn't work. He says 62% of the people in his jails are misdemeanors.
You know, the guy may be a publicity whore, but he’s on the right side of a lot of issues.

I don't think he is. I think he is just asked on shows because the things he does works. If he can do it there is NO excuse why every town can't. He gets the job done & we need more sheriffs like him. If he appears on TV maybe more people will demand the same of their sheriffs & law enforcement. I hope they do.
He’s a whore because his steadfastness in enforcing our laws is considered news material by the leftist media.

Police Union: Change Phoenix Immigration Policy

PHOENIX (AP) _ A union for police officers broke with leaders of the Phoenix Police Department on Monday in calling for an end to an immigration policy that the union says makes streets in the nation’s fifth largest city more dangerous.
The policy prevents police officers from asking federal immigration authorities for assistance in situations where illegal immigrants commit civil traffic violations. (snip)

He’s doing what others claim can’t be done. And he seems to be one of the few in law enforcement who actually take our immigration laws seriously.
I’ve always liked this guy. I suspect he won’t be getting any invitation to the White House in the future though !!!

You are exactly right! We handed them unprecedented power for years and they still were on defense with the minority party, never once taking offense. Then Bush and the Republican ruled congress acted like a bunch of corrupt demonrats and have ruined the party to the point in which we now have no viable candidate to run in 2008 without ending up with a democrat in Republican clothing. It's sad!
...who runs far and away the best prison. I'd like to see his prison model adopted nationwide. No gang or drug BS in there, that's for sure. Just hard labor and the Disney Channel.
