Need insurance? No license? No problem!

A sign on Long Point Road may pack a little bit of a surprise for some drivers. It reads Get auto insurance without a drivers license.
Thats right. And local drivers are doing just that. Enrique Gallegos is one of them.
He says it helps him protect his family, and hes not alone.
A lot of insurance agents in Houston readily sell policies to illegal immigrants who cant get Texas drivers licenses.
The majority of the companies are now going to that because its a market that has been unexplored by a lot of companies, insurance agent Rolando Martinez said.
Martinezs walls are decorated with the logos of companies that underwrite these policies.
Progressive is doing it. Infinity is doing it. Both carriers that I do, Martinez said.
Some Hispanic newspapers are filled with ads for these no-license insurance policies.
The office of the Texas Insurance Commissioner said the policies are legal, adding that regardless of whether or not a person is in the country illegally, their policy will be honored.

Good news for DUI offenders?
No record to check would be a probem.
Take their money. When there is an accident, they properly point out they don’t have to pay since defendant was not licensed to drive. Keep their money.
My auto policy is null and void if cars are operated without a licensed driver.....and in this state it is a civil infraction to operate a motor vehicle without insurance, as well as a misdemeanor to drive without a license.
What if you own a car but don’t drive? Should you be able to purchase insurance then? Why not? Maybe you’re a widow and your husband drove. Maybe you had a car, but had a skiing accident and are paralyzed but you don’t want to sell it and you want your attendants to drive.
Second, what does being able to buy insurance have to do with citizenship? Lots of people are legal residents of the U.S., are not citizens. They can buy U.S. insurance.
That is all this is about. And when you or I are a victim of this criminal act our insurance company will pay and our insurance rate will double!
The founder of Progressive donates heavily to the left, so I am not surprised that they would be underwriting such idiocy. Just another reason not to do business with them, other than that their customer service sucks and their rates aren't really that great.
Oh yeah...heppens every day...all over america...
/sarcasm
Slowly but surely this country is setting up two sets of laws. One for illegals and one for the rest of us. The illegals get winked at while the rest of us get our feet held to the fire. If I tried to get an insurance policy without a license, my agent would laugh themselves into a coma.
In this case, I don’t care -— would you rather have an illegal out there with no liability insurance or with at least the minimum?
I had a no license, no insurance idiot hit one of them. I figured..hey no problem, I have "uninsured motorist" insurance.
WRONG That only covers injuries. and on this particular paid for '98 Honda Civic....I elected to not have comp. Guess who was liable for the bill? Yeah, me.
My insurance agent proceeds to tell me...that ONE OUT OF THREE drivers in the state of Oklahoma...do NOT have insurance. ONE OUT OF THREE!!!!
I scream!!! And @%#$%^!!!!&**((!!
I calm down...and ask, "why is this allowed?"
I get a baloney sandwich.
Personally I think....every driver in the state should JUST REFUSE TO RENEW THEIR POLICIES...until this BS gets settled correctly.
This is a good thing. The fewer out there without insurance the cheaper insurance is for everyone. That said, they should deport them back to Mexico if they are an illegal upon the police finding out.
I don't follow....it cost me a bundle.
That said, they should deport them back to Mexico if they are an illegal upon the police finding out.
The guy who smashed my Honda was born and raised here.
Bad as that sounds, it's a LOT better than California's solution... 20 years ago. Makes ME pay for "uninsured drivers", whether I like it or not.
I always wondered if that's legal.
It certainly never felt right.
In California, if you are DUI and your license is suspended (my teenager learned the hard way on that one, but didn’t hurt himself or anyone else, thank our Lord), you must have insurance in place before they will reissue your license. You can only go to brokers like Cost-U-Less, etc. He was excited about getting his license back this month, until I told him that his insurance WON’T cover him driving my car. And I refuse to let him drive it without coverage, even if it’s one block to the store.
This can’t be good for insurance companies unless they’re charging the illegal amigos predatory rates. Even doing that, they’re bound to end up paying out more than they take in by insuring these slime balls.
I do not believe these agents have any underwriting to back up premiums they collect. Sounds like nothing more than shysters taking stupid peoples money.
I am really seeing red now.
They are shyters. I know the area and they have always been shysters there. They prey on people.
