Third member of Congress after Thomas and Norwood to die of cancer this year. What is going on?
It happens. Of course, this isn’t nearly as bad as the ‘30s when a lot of members died during that enormously stressful period, including Speaker Nicholas Longworth (the last Republican to win more than 1 consecutive term as Speaker until Gingrich nearly 7 decades later).
I’ve gone to 5 funerals this year of people who have succumbed to cancer under the age of 50. With all of the advances in saving people from countless other ailments in the medical profession, cancer just seems to be getting worse as the years go on.
I frickin’ hate cancer. I am so tired of the senseless loss.
