Exactly - it was the first object over put into orbit, rivaling Columbus’ arrival at the new world in significance. It’s proper that this event should be celebrated.

Over time the type of “recognition” Google bestows certainly has a tone to it, and that is what the author of this post was very likely responding to.

Google “recognition” and “non-recognition” threads are a recurrent theme here.

It isn’t a single occurance. It is a pattern of behavior.

They can do as they wish and we can criticize them for it as we see fit too.
