A 64-year-old Bradenton man who fired a shotgun to quiet his complaining wife while they were watching a football game was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison.
Authorities said David A. Huffman got mad last November because his wife would not be quiet during a TV football game.
Huffman, a California native, walked out of the room and returned holding a shotgun pointed at his wife's face. San Diego and Denver were involved in a nail-biter that night, according to NFL.com records.
Authorities say Huffman's wife, Kathryn, grabbed the gun, which fired once but did not hit anyone. Huffman's attorney said his client thought the gun was unloaded.
Assistant State Attorney Brian Iten said Huffman's finger was on the trigger when the gun discharged, firing a slug through a window. Huffman's wife hugged her husband, trying to calm him, before going to a neighbor's house to call 911.

It’s hard to gauge a man of that caliber.

I want to know how many years he would have received if he had shot her? Its football season guys, we really need to perform a cost-benefit analysis on this.

San Diego and Denver were involved in a nail-biter that night, according to NFL.com records. The writer must not be a football fan.

A man and his wife were sitting in the living room and he said to her, “Just so you know, I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug.”
His wife got up, unplugged the TV and threw out all of his beer.
