A Rasmussen telephone poll found that 60% of likely voters oppose Hillary's plan to give every new born baby a $5,000 savings bond.

Curiously, 65% of whites opposed the baby bond idea. 52% of minorities favored the baby bond idea. Well --- maybe that's not so curious – but I don't want to step on any ethnic toes here, do I?
Now that this poll is out there, let's see if Hillary Rodham ever mentions her baby bonus idea again. If not, she'll certainly come up with some other grand income redistribution scheme.

Well, this is at least the SECOND trial run she has made on controlling our youth (cradle-to-grave power socialist). She tried a more frontal attack back when “hubby” was porking interns. She and some senator (cannot remember his name) tried to put together legislation that would give the government abosolute control over the destiny of your child (professionally, career, what he/she would do) in high school based on scholastic standards -— basically taking over control of the life of your child.

Now, if this was a $5000 non-refundable tax credit, I could see some support for it. My feeling is that she’s trying to get that 10% of black votes that doesn’t currently go to the Democratic party.
She’s already reaped a benefit. Socialists, minorities and people who support giving money away to the “poor”, like the cut of Hillarys “jib”. She’s at least proposing all the right things. It could replace social security if placed in an stock fund returning an average of 9%. You would have 1.6 million at retirement at age 67.

I know white people that would support this too. They like freebies . Most don’t pay much in taxes and see it as coming from the government instead of tax payers.

My first thought when I heard this was "what happens if the child dies before 18?" Wonder if this would lead to a rash of "accidents".

It has always been a crime to offer money for someones vote has it not?
If this offer of $5000 per child had been made on the Senate Floor it would have been protected speech.
If this offer was made on the Campaign Trail as a part of an effort to gain votes and be elected..
