I wish Dobson and his followers would realize this is a POLITICAL party.

Some people are so into their religion that instead of just practicing it, they have to turn every non-religious organization and activity into an extention of that religious practice. I get the feeling some would prefer if we had a Catholic Republican Party, a Baptist Republican Party, a Jewish, etc. so they can feel like "their own" are the only ones let in.

And, maybe you ought to realize that certain people care more about the issues they believe in than whether Republicans win or not.

From a political standpoint, Giuliani will drive out millions from the GOP and can't hold the south. The GOP would be far better off if he quit the race.

Christians have just as much right to get involved in the political process as the NRA does. Are you going to knock the NRA because it says it doesn’t support a certain candidate because that candidate doesn’t support gun rights? Then why are you upset with Dobson for saying he won’t vote for Rudy if he gets the nomination? Ann Coulter said the same thing and I agree with both of them. It’s not because of what they said that makes me say I won’t vote for Rudy, it is the principle of pro-life that I adhere to. Do I have a litmus test? You bet I do, just like all those who say they won’t vote for Hillary have a litmus test also.

Darn right. How dare these people seek to promote their principles? What are they thinking, that this is some kinda participatory system where they, too, are allowed to adhere to their moral values? When are they going to realize they are expected to shut up and support their betters regardless of what positions they may take on issues these people consider fundamental and non-negotiable? Stay in your churches, Dobson and others, and vote as you are told by your superiors such as Darkwolf377.

You are correct. It is a political party. I listen to the positions put forth by the candidates. I can tell by their positions and records from previous offices held if they share my core principles. And if some candidate finds it necessary to claim to be a Christian, it is most likely because the words or deeds of the candidate do not reflect it.

Dobson is upset he and others were taken to the cleaners, but the whole nation has been taken to the cleaners over one issue of another. It’s politics. Welcome to the club.

I am glad they spoke up!!!

The answer is simple...ABORTION AND HOMOSEXUALITY is simply unacceptable to true Christians, PERIOD.

People that support or condone such things are simply not acceptable.

The parties are supposed to represent the will of the people. A person should not be compelled to vote for another person if that person does not represent his values and beliefs. Nor should they be shamed for vocalizing the reasons why they are not supporting a candidate. While I disagree with Dobson on Thompson, I do not disagree on the principle for voting for those who represent you.

Agreed. As a Christian, a political science teacher plus being a pastor, I am not voting for a priest, Pope or Martin Luther. I am voting for a guy with some reasonable agendas which still allow a modicum of conservative values, policies and laws to come through. I can vote for Rudy, Mitt, Fred or Mike. I do not care who gets the nomination since all 4 are far superior to Her Highness and her pacifist socialism. I think Rudy would be fine but Fred may do it too. Anyone but Hillary.

“Some people are so into their religion that instead of just practicing it, they have to turn every non-religious organization and activity into an extention of that religious practice.”

I cannot speak for all “religons.” However, when it comes to conservative evangelical Christianity, “practicing” our beliefs means bringing them to every aspect of our lives. I don’t leave my moral values at the door when I participate in “secular” organizations. So, it is totally unrealistic what you expect from us (conservative evangelical Christians). If the Republican Party wants our votes, then they must provide candidates that share our values and priorities, or are at least sympathic towards them. Otherwise, you risk loosing us - this isn’t an idle threat. Something you just don’t seem to take seriously enough.

Well, if Rudy gets the nominations you will see the conversative evangelicals leave the ballot blank or vote for a third party candidate. That has been and will remain my game plan. I absolutely will not vote for Rudy, ever.

If you don’t take this seriously, you are going to ruin any chance the party has of maintaining a Republican in the White House. YOU CANNOT WIN A GENERAL ELECTION AGAINST SENATOR CLINTON WITHOUT KEEPING THE CONSERVATIVE EVANGELICALS ON BOARD. It is time for those that place a supreme value on having a Republican (regardless of which) to wake up and stop throwing support to Rudy. It is time to tell him to get out of the race.

My rejection of Rudy Guliani has NOTHING to do with my religious faith.

Like I've said before, I'd rather support a Mormon who supports MOST of my conservative values than a self-proclaimed "Republican" like Guliani who supports NONE of my conservative values.
