If you want to hear some crazy thinking, there are actually some people on here FR who think that if Hillary is elected president in 2008, the GOP will reap the benefits in 2010. They are willing to risk this country to use this an electoral strategy. Nevermind the supreme court and the wot.

At least people will see that the dems are EVIL.

But, so is Giuliani.

She has an automatic gimme base.

If he is nominated by the party, it will be the end of the
party.

The Republican base will go away and start a new party.

“Maybe Rudy could put his country ahead of his personal wants and just bow out now.”

Maybe this group conservatives could put their country ahead of their personal views and back the Republican candidate rather than hand the election over to the socialists. I guarantee that any of the candidates of the left will be much worse for the values held by religious conservatives in this country than would Rudy. And he’s NOT my first choice.

I am an evangelical. I will not participate in any effort that will result in a peeling of votes away from the flawed but ELECTABLE Republicans! Such an effort will ultimately yield a Democrat victory. The price is too high.

"Yep, worked out great when we all voted for Perot on “principle”." What principle? Perot had no principles. He bilked taxpayers and then convinced pocketbook voters, NOT voters of principle, that he would straighten things out because he knew how to work the system. Therefore, he could fix things. People who voted for Perot, who many people believed was sent there to throw the election to the socialists, thought they were gonna get their taxes lowered.

“I honestly hope someday conservatives will have a viable third party to vote for, because the Pubs have been drifting left for years now !!!”

Such expression is becoming more and more common.

A two party system is fairly stable but it doesn’t have to be the same two parties. Parties can come and go.

I wish I had been more conscientious to record the titles and authors I had read when I was a young man. There was a good book in the Homestead Air Force Base library back in the 70s that spoke of a Conservative Party and a Liberal Party, rather than Republican and Democratic Parties. The book was written by a conservative who was even then upset about the Republicans trying to play social tag with the Democrats.

Such could happen, but it would be more likely through a third party transitional phase, I do believe.

Some thought by putting Slick Willy in, the country would see how horrible the Democrats were and see the error of our ways and give him the old heave ho after one term. That worked out pretty well, didn’t it?

I don’t know why Dr. Dobson, et al, of whom I respect very much, came out against Fred Thompson. Fred is the only winnable candidate that is pro-limited government, pro-gun, pro tax-cut, and an all around conservative. I pray that they get behind Fred Thompson.

Those who think that by committing the sin of omission ,they are somehow self-righteous are just flat out wrong. In the real world of politics, not voting for the lessor of two evils is choosing the greater evil. Period.

Probable his taste in women, whiskey and cigars. [sarcasm I think]...

Forget about Guiliani for a second and whether you like him or not, does Dobson think that he is the Lord and Master of the Republican Party? What is next for him, will he assume the role of Commander in Chief and start running the war?

This man should be told very harshly where he belongs.
