Paul officials deny involvement in Giuliani Mackinac ferry taunting
NRO ^ | September 25, 2007 | David Freddoso

I'm glad I stayed on the island Friday night, but here's an episode I missed, from the Detroit Free Press:

...[Ron] Paul's supporters taunted former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for alleged complicity in the attacks..

...According to one eyewitness, [Rudy] Giuliani was beset by dozens of Paul enthusiasts as he was leaving the island, some of whom shouted taunts about 9/11, including: “9/11 was an inside job” and “Rudy, Rudy, what did you do with the gold?” — an apparent reference to rumors about $200 million in gold alleged to have disappeared in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.

Ed Wyszynski, a longtime party activist from Eagle, said the Paul supporters threatened to throw Giuliani overboard and harrassed him as he took shelter in the ferry’s pilothouse for the 15-minute journey back to Mackinaw City.

“It was awful,” said Wyszynski, who supports Mitt Romney for the GOP presidential nomination.

“I was embarrassed to be a Republican. Never, ever, have I seen such a disgraceful performance.”

The Paul campaign denies any involvement, and insists that Paul does not believe 9/11 was an inside job.

A quote of Ron’s I haven’t posted for awhile.

HE: Follow-up -- thank you -- follow-up question. [Laughter] Take two minutes and tell me the people that you would name to your cabinet or to your official family.

RP: Probably, I won’t do a very good job of that because I haven’t thought that through and there are certainly a lot of friends and –

HE: Well, before you name the cabinet people, what cabinet departments would you want to have remain?

RP: Well I guess we could have a Justice Department. I guess we could have a State Department, and I guess we could have a Defense Department, and maybe one or two others more but not many more than that.

Do I believe he hasn’t given it a thought, no. But it’s reasonable to assume a politician will surround himself with his supporters.

Which is why the level of moonbat and outright hater support for Paul is relevant.

In the laughable case that he should win (now I’m talking like a moonbat), these early supporters are the ones who brought him to the dance. Certainly to be numbered amongst his friends.

And kudos to Rudy for stealing the $200 million in gold.

I am still waiting for a Paul supporter to answer what Constitutional authority President Paul would have to eliminate the CIA, DEA, NSA, FBI, NEA, FDA, FTC, IRS, and all the other things he says he will eliminate.

Wouldn’t that have to originate in congress? If he leaves congress, who is left to sponsor a bill to do these things?

Pondering a Paul Presidency is an exercise in absurdity, but you're correct that he has no power to eliminate departments. Congress would fund them, he'd veto, they'd override, Paul would be obligated to fund the various departments though I suppose he could order employees not to work or stay home, we'd revisit the Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 but he'd be impeached and removed from office long before the court case was resolved.

The alternative, to persuade voters. Which he's doing, dismally.

From the forum:

There is nothingin this video that supports anything in this article....

Irrelevant.. the article is bringing attention to Dr. Paul... His campaign has nothing to do with it.. Let MSM run with the story.. every airing of the story lets another 50,000 people hear his name.

****************

These people are frightning. Will they stop at nothing? We shall see, but the video is pretty scary.

The YouTube of the Ferry Ride is on the web. It presents a completely different picture than the smear story. The MSM is trying belittle the fact that he attracted hundreds of enthusiastic supporters to this event and won over Il Duce.

Keep up what? Have you even watched the YouTube of the Ferry Trip? It disproves this MSM fairy tale. Since when is a freeper so willing to believe MSM smears and hearsay (from a Romney supporter no less!)? I guess the MSM is a "reliable source" when it comes to Ron Paul, eh?

You obviously hate Ron Paul but have you even bothered to watch the YouTube of the Ferry Rids? Do you believe everything from the MSM?

So the taunting that the Paul campaign deny being involved with never happened?

Denying something that never happened, wouldn't be the first example of rank stupidity on the part of the "official" campaign.

And your evidence that it did happen is....what? This event was extensively filmed by both the MSM and Paul supporters. Put up or shut up. Again, you obviously despise Paul and all he stands for.....but there is something called fairness.

Read my post again.

I'm taking Captain Kirk's word that it didn't happen, and again stating the dissassociating the campaign from an non-existant "happening" is a very stupid thing for his campaign to do. They should simply demonstrate through the tapes that the taunting neverhapped.

On the other hand, if it did happen, they did the right thing, and you're an example of the type of ever spinning supporter Paul attracts, and which do him little good.

I should shut up?

Is Captain an official position in the Ron Paul Enforcement Brigade?

Captain Kirk speak out of both sides of mouth.

If Rudy was taunted, the campaign did the right think, and you're misrepresenting the incident. Deliberately.

If Rudy wasn't taunted, you're telling the truth, and the campaign is stupid for disassociating itself from a non-event.

Either way, a splendid example of the harm his supporters do his "effort".

To the Paulite lurker who just emailed me a response to this question with a two word answer (that started with F and ended with You)..

BTW, that email box is a group box for an eLearning community with about 100 members, so you have no represented Paul to all 100 members with your two word response... lol..

A bit ironic on a thread about nutball supporters taunting people, isn't it.

I'm sure it wasn't a Paul supporter, probably a neocon trying to make him look bad.

Who knows. I’ve gotten several e-mails from members of that group asking who the heck he was. (I also think my group administrator is blocking his e-mail address.) It is odd that he had this email address to. I removed that address from here about a month ago when we were getting threatening emails on it from another Paulite (these were anonymous). I wonder if it is the same one.

I am still waiting for a Paul supporter to answer what Constitutional authority President Paul would have to eliminate the CIA, DEA, NSA, FBI, NEA, FDA, FTC, IRS, and all the other things he says he will eliminate.

I'll answer your question. Example, the CIA was established under the National Security Act of 1947. However the Central Intelligence Group was a prior entity established by Truman (by EO in 1946). The National Security Act of 1947 was just the next step. Wouldn't the President have the capability to sign an Executive Order demoting certain departments? Or are you of the understanding the only use for Executive Orders is only more centralization of power?

My personal view of the easiest way to eliminate departments is to

A) not nominate Cabinet positions for those departments
B) veto budgets that have funding for those departments

I'm not sure the Constitution would require President Paul (nice ring to it don't you think ;)) to put Secretaries in all the positions but Congress would probably claim otherwise. So put Secretaries in those positions that would work to put themselves out of work, laying out plans over a 5-10 year period to wind those departments down.

Hopefully in the meantime, Paul's liberty message would catch on at the Congressional level, spawning more than a few challengers to Congressional seats and putting more people that believe in liberty and freedom in Congress than we currently have.
