YAWN.
You mean that if I get the right amount of sleep I won't die?
Seriously, dying earlier than expected due to too much sleep is not something that I'm too concerned about. When the kids leave the house, the computer, cable TV and the DVD stop working (permanently) and every book and magazine spontaneous disappears, along with the technology to make more - THEN I'll worry about it.
Unlike the screaming passengers in your car. ;)
Yawn. I think I will go take a death defying nap.
“the study subjects who cut the duration of their sleep from seven hours to five hours a night had a 1.7-fold increased risk of death from all causes”
Sooo... If one sleeps 5 hours instead of seven, has a 1.7 more chance of being killed by getting hit by a bus? I guess that makes sense because that person is active two more hours per day.
I find it funny that the article doesn’t say that those who sleep 9 hours instead of 6 hours have a 50% more chance to die in their sleep.
Above 100%? At least I won't die tired.
Exactly. In a related study they found that people who sleep 24 hours per day in their bedroom have a 0% of getting killed in a traffic fatality.
You’ll have to get clearance from the Gubmint first.
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather did.
(Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.)
Pretty much. But she was one tough old bird. Breast cancer in 1979; quit drinking booze in 1984; quit smoking cigarettes in 1988; lung cancer in 1995; spinal cancer in 2005 - she fought it all off.
Then, when she was feeling better, we went out to eat in a restaurant. Big mistake. She contracted a lung infection. The antibiotics combined with the anti-cancer meds made her so ill she said “The hell with it!”. She stopped taking all meds. That’s what killed her, January 2006.
She had really liked that restaurant, too. After she was cremated we took her ashes there and had a wake, joined by the waitresses.
So, according to this, if you go to bed at 11:00pm and get up at 7:00, you’re risking your life?
Good grief.
