"Fresno Police are investigating an officer involved shooting which occurred in Northwest Fresno on Monday.

The incident began after police pursued an armed suspect at Milburn and Herndon around 10 a.m. The chase led police all the way to Herndon and Golden State, where things became violent.

Authorities say that shots were fired from the suspect at police, and police were forced to return the fire. The suspect was ultimately shot by authorities and then air-lifted to Community Regional Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.

Police have identified the suspect as 58-year-old Clifford Darrell Finch of Fresno. Authorities say that Finch will be charged with attempted murder on a police officer, along with several other felony charges.

No police were injured in the incident.

Monday's shooting was the fourth officer involved shooting of the year. Police say that at this time last year there had been seven.

A couple of things that the TV Station brought out is that Mr. Finch was a businessman, and there is no indication from the report that he has a criminal history. He has a son, Andy Finch, who is a professional snowboarder. The police were called regarding a domestic violence. And evidently, it went downhill from there.
