President Hugo Chavez, left, talks to soldiers as he drives in San Fernando de Apure, Venezuela, June 10, 2007. His message, as he takes a road trip accompanied by an AP reporter, is clear: He's the gladiator, challenging the U.S. on behalf of the oppressed. (AP Photo/Fernando Llano)

Hey,at least the guy’s up front about it.”Epic struggle” equals “president for life”.Was Hitler as honest about it in 1935? Was Mao as honest about it in 1951? Stalin in 1932?

The Venezuelans are idiots for not making their new Thug Tyrant-for-Life and his Cuban Praetorian Guard all room temperature.

And the AP reporter, Ian James, writes this puff piece without asking the obvious question, now that the Venezuelan strongman Chavez has secured Venezuela who is he going to free next.

Like I said, he really didn’t pay much attention to the plot. The protagonist was a general in the Empire. Also, his beef was with the Emperor, not the whole Empire. But hey, as a socialist, Chavez has a chimpanzee-like attention to detail.

Hugo, I hate to be the one to break this to you, because you clearly haven’t looked in a mirror lately...but you’re no Russell Crowe.
