Ron Paul Re-Introduces Ballot Access Bill in Congress (picking up the torch from John Conyers)

On September 19, Congressman Ron Paul introduced a bill, outlawing restrictive ballot access laws for minor party and independent candidates for the U.S. House. He had previously introduced this bill in past sessions of Congress. Before he had done so, a somewhat more comprehensive bill had been introduced by Congressman John Conyers (D-Michigan), in 1985, 1987 and 1989. Also during the early 1990s, the bill had been introduced by Congressman Tim Penny (D-Minnesota, no longer in Congress).
Article One of the U.S. Constitution explicitly gives Congress the authority to override state election laws pertaining to Congressional elections. Ron Pauls bill does not yet have a bill number.

I found it. There were 135 people on the ballot for the office of Governor.
Yeah, that is exactly what we need.

Nice, Paul can find a way to reduce State’s rights for elections in the Constitution but he can’t find a reason to, for example, reduce aid to Vietnam because of human right’s abuses, put the National Guard on the border, fund our troops in the middle of a combat zone, or restrict someone from taking minors across State lines for abortions. But heck, if you are a wild shrimp farmer or want to set up a federal child tracking database, he’ll find a back door way to do that.

Good. Party affiliation shouldn’t keep someone off of the ballot. The current system we have has basically limited our choices to big government dem or big government republican. I’d like to have more choices. You know, like actually be able to vote for a small government conservative.

You are exasperating.
More than one or two or three parties should be on the ballot but it should not be open ended.
Was that clear enough for you?

There were 135 people on the ballot for the office of Governor. Please read: Congressional elections. Paul's bill doesn't affect Gubernatorial or statehouse races.

How could you forget his campaign to legalize hemp farming in the US. That and blaming the US for the 9/11 attack are among his major accomplishments. I don’t see anything wrong with hemp farming but with a champion like Ron Paul it may never come to pass.

Article 1, Section 4 is interesting.
Section 4. The times, places and manner of holding elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each state by the legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by law make or alter such regulations, except as to the places of choosing Senators.
It does give the Congress occasion to make laws to alter State regulation, but it leaves first right to the State. So, what triggered the need to override the State's first right of defining their election law?

Does anyone have the bill number? I’ve been searching Thomas.gov and I can’t find any reference to this bill.

How could you forget his campaign to legalize hemp farming in the US. Did you know that Hemp could be used for fuel, as well as to make clothing and paper? Did you know that it saved President Bush's father life in WWII? There's nothing wrong with Industrial Hemp, and no, you can't get "high" off of it or grow marijuana alongside it. I support this bill, it's long overdue.
That and blaming the US for the 9/11 attack are among his major accomplishments.
He never blamed the US for 9/11
