Thompson's Texas Tour [Global warming man-made "in part." Calls for "international solution"]
KVUE-TV ^ | September 19, 2007 | Elise Hu

Posted on 09/19/2007 1:19:16 PM PDT by Plutarch

Fred Thompson's about two weeks into his official campaign for president, and he's tapping some Texas donors in a two-day swing through the Lone Star State. He's also happy to get some free media attention.

Thompson sat down with me for a one-on-one interview early this morning (who says he doesn't work hard? 8am is early!)

Here's some of what he said...

On global warming:

Q: Is global warming a man-made problem?

A: From what we know now, it seems to be in part, certainly. I think that we don't know how much yet. There are a lot of other things we don't know. There's got to be a global solution to it, there's got to be an international solution before we can do anything. We could take a lot of drastic measures here and it wouldn't even make any difference if China, and India and a lot of other countries don't participate.

In other words, he'd do nothing since China and India ain't gonna do anything. Works for me.

You're not supposed to thoughtfully read what he says, you're just supposed to fly off the handle about how it's been twisted!

Not another one falling to the GW hype.

Hardly. Read closer:

think that we don't know how much yet. There are a lot of other things we don't know.

You've got to realize that a majority of Americans have been brainwashed into the cult of human-caused globull warming. Thompson is going to need some of their votes to win. He basically gave the concept lip service while setting conditions for action that won't happen. Meanwhile, skeptical scientists will have time to counter the alarmist propaganda and end the debate.

But, by saying global warming is ‘in part’ man-made he gives all the liberals in the press cover as they try to destroy American corporations. If a staunch conservative says so, it must be true, will be their battle cry. And the 40% of the voting public that is clueless about the issues and unfortunately decides elections will eat it up.

Could someone post a list of GOP candidates who reject man-caused global warming?

I just can’t bring myself to vote for a candidate who believes that man is more powerful than the sun.

Read again. He did not buy into the certainty argument presented by the likes of Gore. And his position about India and China being part of any solution does two things - present Kyoto for the fraud it is, and sets a precondition for action that won't happen.

I really would not want to play Texas hold 'em against this guy. I don't look too hot without my clothing.

Noooooooo!

Ah well, as a strict Federalist he’ld probably want states to come up with their own solution to the ludicrous GW monomyth, not foist it on everyone.

But seriously, Fred, that’s bad. Believing in AGW? I can only assume he hasn’t made the time to check the facts yet.
