STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) - A Swedish cartoonist who depicted Islam's Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog said Monday that police have taken him to a secret location and told him he cannot return home following a death threat from al-Qaida in Iraq. Lars Vilks, who was whisked away by police when he returned to Sweden from Germany on Sunday, said police have described the threats against him as "very serious."
"Police guard was nonexistent before this. It's 100 percent now," he said in a telephone interview. "I can't live in my home, I've only been allowed to pick up some things."
The leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, offered $100,000 over the weekend for Vilks' murder. He said the bounty would be upped to $150,000 if Vilks was "slaughtered like a lamb" and offered $50,000 for the killing of the editor of a local newspaper that reprinted the cartoon on Aug. 19.

Here's a Frequent Flyer safety tip: When checking in for a flight, ask the agent on duty if Lars Vilks is on your flight. If he is, take a different flight.

If it’s the ROP, why do you need bodyguards to criticize it?

Yikes - this is a clear example of what will happen to Free Speech if we don’t win this far against Islamic Fascism. The cartoonist definately deserves some appreciation for his courage - he indicated in another article that he was willing to die rather than retract his free speech.

I think it would be really cool if Al Qaida (mysteriously) got flooded with
false clues as to his whereabouts and let the games begin.
It would give the "Towelies" something to do that would be a heck of a lot more fun than the old "Blowing Yourself Up" game.

To really solve the problem they should take all the Muslims in Sweden “to a secret location... etc.”
That would be far more feasible than to slowly hide everyone else away.

I can't live in my homeHe'll have a hard time selling it, too.
I doubt an al-Qaeda assassin would check first to make sure that the Swede he was slaughtering at that address really was Vilks.

This sure makes me wonder.
* Does AQ really pay up if you murder somebody for them?
* If they pay up, how do you get paid?
* Why is AQ offering huge rewards for this life instead of the standard package of 72 virgins?
* Is AQ's strategy to invest in comparably small victories (e.g., murdering single soft targets) a sign that bigger, truer victories are aren't available?

“To really solve the problem they should take all the Muslims in Sweden to a secret location... etc. Exactly. Muslims belong in Muslim countries. I am all for tolerance, but if you tolerate an ideology which will not tolerate you, you die.
