Law firms here are strongly encouraged to do a certain amount of pro bono work and the firm I work for is no exception. We are involved from time to time in protection from abuse cases which we inherit from the local legal aid society. We file the paperwork for Protection from Abuse orders and the attorneys go to the hearings, but most of the women don’t show up for the hearings and the cases are dropped. We’ve had some of these women file for PFAs numerous times — each time they don’t pursue the case. They let these men back into their lives, they get beaten up again, file for protection, then let the man back in, then get beaten up again — a constant cycle.

Not long ago, I read of a woman who was beaten to death by her boyfriend. The name sounded familiar, so I looked it up. We had represented her in a couple of PFA proceedings. Same story every time. She would drop the case, or not show up for the hearing. I found out that this last time, she was represented by another law firm — she did actually get the PFA order, but within a month she let the SOB move back into her home. Didn’t take him long to do away with her permanently.

OKAY, WHEN CAN WE HAVE JUDGE GREER AND HIS GANG OF THUGS ARRESTED?

http://www.judgegeorgegreer.com

God only knows how many people GREER has murdered since TERRI. The story's the same - seeking justice. Ron and Nicole are finally getting some justice.

I believe Terri Schiavo will too someday...

He is indeed. On his own though I doubt OJ could afford anything close to the dream team he had during the Brown/Goldman trial. But as I said, the guy is charming — he may yet find some generous friends (idiots) willing to put up the money to get him the best defense money can buy.

Happens so often. This particular woman was poor and uneducated, but you’d be surprised how many middle to upper class and supposedly intelligent women also put up with the abuse.

I don’t need Fuhrman to explain that. You break into someone else’s room with weapons to take something from them that is legally their’s, because a court has determined that it is but you want it back. If that is not a crime, I don’t know what crime is.

Yeah you are right, they are not supposed to prosecute armed robberies. Those are victimless crimes. Sheesh.

No, I just want to be sure that when convicted there’s no possible “taint” on the conviction that would lead a judge to believe that politics played a role in conviction, thus somehow leading to such a conviction being overturned. The conviction should be completely free of such scrutiny. Do you understand now?

Just heard that o.j. has been assigned a permanent judge that does not like video in the court. Anyone catch his name?

He is already pronouncing his innocence, a mix-up, he insists, over his own sting operation to recover things he thinks belong to him. Ha! A sting without the knowledge of the authorities? Wow, some cojones.

Letterman and Leno will have a field day with this tonight, but here’s a little something from Jimmy Kimmel....late night show comedian...

O.J.’s new book is doing so well on Amazon.com right now, he is planning to release a book from this situation. It’s called “How I would’ve Stolen the Sports Memorabilia From a Sports Hotel Room in Vegas — Which I didn’t Do — but if I Did.”

It’s actually a pop-up book ( pop-up book with pop-up knife inside.)

***

I didn’t think he had been formally arraigned yet. Don’t they assign judges at the time of arraignment or shortly thereafter? (What do I know — I work for civil attorneys — LOL)

If OJ does get a judge who won’t put up with shennanigans in his courtroom as Ito did during the murder trial, it will be a good thing.

When I think of Judge Ito I see that mass of sand timers on his desk. It that what they were? I just know it seemed like an out of place pile of junk. If he collects them fine, they are sort of nice, but keep them at home or at least in the office.
