If the US is work soldiers dieing in Iraq and Afghanistan, it should be worth illegal aliens dieing on the border.

With proper fences, the criminals will still try to get over. They will attack the proper fences with explosives, by undermining, and by shooting at our Border Patrol.

When that happens the US must respond with overwhelming deadly force, advance a mile, then build a new border fence. Eventually, Mexico will either decide that they wish to try to defeat us, or they will help secure the border.
