Qaeda leader offers $100,000 for cartoonist death (jihad alert)

DUBAI (Reuters) - The head of an al Qaeda-led group in Iraq offered $100,000 for the killing of Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks over his drawing depicting the Prophet Mohammad. "From now on we announce the call to shed the blood of the Lars who dared to insult our Prophet... and during this munificent month we announce an award worth 100,000 to the person who kills this infidel criminal," said Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq, in an audiotape posted on a Web site on Saturday. "The award will be increased to $150,000 if he were to be slaughtered like a lamb." Sweden's daily Nerikes Allehanda published the drawing last month. Vilks' drawing was part of a series which art galleries in Sweden had declined to display. The newspaper published the image, depicting the head of the Prophet on the body of a dog, in what it called a defense of free speech. Muslim countries including Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan have expressed anger over the caricature. Iran, the first country to protest against the publication of the drawing on August 27, summoned Sweden's charge d'affaires in Tehran to complain. Muslims believe images of the Prophet are forbidden and also consider dogs to be impure. Last year, Muslims around the world launched a firestorm of protest after a Danish newspaper published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad that were reprinted by other European newspapers.

If I was running a suicidal death cult, I’ll do the same thing.

Collecting might be tricky. I think I’ll pass on the offer.

This is wishful thinking I know, but wouldn’t it be nice if the person offering the money got hit by a Mac truck or Humvee?

>>The head of an al Qaeda-led group in Iraq<<

This can’t be true. Pelosi said there is no al-Qaeda in Iraq. :)

Abu Omar al-Baghdadi is one of the many abusive males in all Muslim countries. He and most males find nothing wrong with be beating of their wives, sisters, daughters, and grandmothers if they "disobey" Islamic law. This fool can't stand a cartoon that depicts the 'Prophet Mohammad' in a light that perhaps is more truth than fiction....

Cartoons about Mohammad should be de rigueur for one week...just think some 10,000 cartoons...20,000 + angry Mullahs tearing out their hair....millions of Muslim women quietly laughing............

“Thugs” is too kind, I think. “Barbarians” is more accurate.

I think you have sometihing here...

IF every non-islamofacist draws a cartoon - and it’s a $100,000 per cartoon, the cult would be bankrupt, money wise, very soon.

Moral bankruptancy already achieved.

Pelosi probably thinks that the war brought al Qaeda there!

We don’t hear about these incidents in our daily “news” but I am sure that this is happening daily in countries around the world that are Islamic controlled. Can you see their news, Top Ten for Today’s Jihad.

If political cartoonists have the guts that they claim they have, they would all draw such cartoons now, in order to take the heat off this guy.

That’s certainly what they would do if Bush complained about a cartoon that made him look bad.

Newspapers worldwide should print an image of al-Baghdadi’s face on a dog in solidarity with Lars Vilks.

I agree. The swedish newspapers that printed the cartoon is also taking a lot of heat because of this. All newspapers should print the cartoons in solidarity.

I'll offer $10 for the death of bin Laden.

He shouldn't be up set at that. It's more than he's worth.

I'm not the most religious person, but "Tools Of Satan" seems to describe them well.
