Before Democratic fund-raiser Norman Hsu skipped a court hearing and temporarily vanished last week, he typed out a suicide note and sent copies to several acquaintances and charitable organizations, according to people who received it.
The one-page note, signed by Mr. Hsu, "very explicitly said he intended to commit suicide," said one of the recipients in an account corroborated by others, including law-enforcement officials. Mr. Hsu also apologized for putting anybody "through inconvenience or trouble," the recipient said.
The letter, which began, "To whom it may concern," arrived by FedEx at the addresses of several recipients last Thursday, the day ...

Hsu will enter Mesa County Jail tonight

Fugitive Yung Yuen Norman Hsu will be transferred to the Mesa County Jail sometime tonight, Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger confirmed this afternoon.
Hautzinger said he was told today to be prepared to handle Hsus bond-setting hearing Thursday.
Hautzinger said he plans to ask for at least $4 million bond for the wealthy businessman. One day before Hsu was arrested in Grand Junction, he skipped a bond hearing in a San Mateo, Calif., courtroom.
Given that he failed to appear on a $2 million bond, I have to ask the judge to double that at least, Hautzinger said.
The FBI arrested Hsu on Sept. 6 after he fell ill on an eastbound train passing through Grand Junction.
Once Hsu returns to California, he will face sentencing for a 16-year-old grand theft charge he pleaded no contest to in 1992.
Hsu returned to California Aug. 31 to face the grand theft charge but became a fugitive for the second time when he failed to attend the Sept. 5 bond hearing.

He types a suicide note. Did he type it via computer and print it out? Or did he find one of those antique typewriters? Where did he "type" it?
He sends it via FedEx. From Oakland airport? Some other FedEx/Kinko's place in the area? Emeryville?
This doesn't add up to anything but a setup.
Was it typed on the same typewriter as the Vince Foster “suicide note”?
Ah, ya beat me by a minute. It takes time to do those < sup > tags, you know. :O)
He should have tried the Pasadena freeway.
Thanks very much for that update. I appreciate it.
This note authorized by Hillary 08.
No, given that he is a runner, you deny him bond. This is ridiculous. And put him on suicide watch. And call in some special interrogators.
