Teachers everywhere should be demanding that the school district allow them to be armed.
More homeschooling will help solve this problem.
But we can’t allow guns in the hands of trained, background-checked adults on school grounds, oh no, that’d be just terrible. < barf >
The policy of the US government should be that if one child gets harmed by these freaks then Mecca and Medina get turned into sheets of glass. Saudi Arabia and their oil be damned.
Beck is a reactionary. Don’t let him push your buttons.
I assure you that your advice will receive all the consideration it deserves. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It is very important to get the facts before overreacting to sensational reports by a TV host who knows nothing about national security.
Beck is also following up on countless reports we have already seen.
Buses being stolen, people taking over a school bus of children, terrorist training videos involving taking over schools, police reports warning about possible terror plots against schools (was posted here at FR last year).
All of these we have seen before Glenn did this program. Glenn is simply connecting the dots, something that obviously isn't being done by the government and schools.
I can drive by any of the schools in my city and see they are completely open and completely unprepared.
And? What's the answer, tough guy?
Too easy and just what Islamic terrorists want you to do.
OFFICIAL MEMO
From: Beslan Superintendent of Schools
To: All parents
Dear Parents:
You may have heard rumors lately of a possible terrorist attack on our schools in which they would torture and kill our children. I assure you that there is nothing to those rumors, and your children are perfectly safe.
Keep in mind, that school is deep inside a military installation that has armed guards and such and is MILES from the border.
On the other hand, my children attend a school that is only about 2 miles from the ill-protected border. It's a prime target for such an attack. They held no drills. I've been meaning to call the school and 1.)ask them about their procedures to deal with such an attack and 2.)ask them when they plan to run through some of the drills like the Middle School on post did. I really want to put the pressure on them to prepare for such an event because they are really a prime target. Your post has prompted me to make those calls ASAP.
It is not possible to protect all schools against a determined attack. Protecting a few will just divert the attack elsewhere.
I don’t understand why so many people don’t understand that we quite literally cannot defend ourselves against attacks of this type. We can kill the terrs first, or we may be able to prevent them entering the country, but we cannot “defend” many thousands of schools against an attack.
Here’s my plan. Pitbulls...and pork.. I haven’t worked out the details yet but there’s a plan in there somewhere.
What does one need to know about national security? Beck also pointed out that Bin Laden has permission, from an imam, to murder 2 million American kids. That is 2,000,000, enough to make the sanest parent gasp. Bin Laden claims that the attack on American children will be 100 Beslans. DRL, I don’t know how come you are playing this down, but it definitely needs to be addressed by our nations schools. It is criminal that the powers that be are checking cavities in airports, but totally ignore the vulnerability of our schools. It is criminal that the powers that be are letting Mexico free flow into the US, but nary a plan is dispensed to the administrators over our children. It is criminal, and we need to address this before it is too late. Reactionary was necessary before 9.11. Reactionary is necessary now.
You think religious fanatics want their holiest sites destroyed?
I doubt it.
That was exactly my point. The only way to stop an attack would be armed battalions in front of every school.
I spend most of my days at various elementary schools. I've thought about it. There is no practical solution.
