Interesting point brought up in the arcticle...they smear vaseline on the arms and necks to ward off attackers...so, if you suspect one on a plane, do not grab them, double up both fists and nail ‘em square in the neck, drop them in one blow, ‘cuz if ya grab, you will lose the advantage, and possibly your life

“Will that work with the watered down stuff that they sell in drug stores as a disinfectant?”

Most likely not. The stronger the oxidizer, the more powerful the explosion. Strong peroxide can be easily bought and hidden in store bought bottles.

They were most likely testing security by taking bomb components.

More Saudi hijackers, this time with a an aerated petroluem jelly bomb and all greased up for close quarters battle with the passengers.

Said TSA and FBI: Nothing to look at here. Move along, please.

gee willikers....I’m wondering if vaseline will stop a .38 hollow point at close range? That’s my weapon of choice if need be.

Let us know how things work out if you try to carry one on the plane.

Maybe they were just taking advantage of Disney’s free dining promotion offered for August stays.

Funny how the muslims haven’t yet forced Disney to shut down the morning sausage and bacon line in the food courts! Given the numbers of them in the Park Id say special accomodations will soon be demanded. Foot baths for Mickey Mouse, permanent exile for the Three Little Pigs, and call-to-prayer speakers atop Cinderella’s castle!

Are you an Air Marshall? Otherwise you'll have a hard time getting your .38 onto the plane.

There are two options:

1. Mere coincidences all compiled to paint this picture. Unfortunate but possible.

2. A probing run. Typically before terror attacks you see probing efforts. The idea is to see what works to get passed security without ever doing anything that can really get you in trouble. You pack things that are very similar to what the real bomb later will be like, without ever using explosives etc. Plausible deniability is the name of the game. If you consistently get through security with three Vaseline jars taped together and repackaged, electrical wires in the case and residue of SEMTEX on a vapor test, obviously such a technique would work when you carry real explosives instead of Vaseline. Using women or children as part of terrorist schemes is typical od Middle Eastern groups. So even this can be a part of the deception plan. Almost always you have probing efforts before any really large terrorist attack. They test your security capabilities, procedures, etc.

It would make sense considering the anniversary of 9/11 just passed. I hear that the guys in Germany were given until the 15th to act. Just about enough time to have us let down our guard some.

I’m not surprised to heat this. I wonder how many groups have actually got stuff past the screeners. The scarier thought is that some of the screeners might be sympathetic to jihad and let them on the planes.

I knew a FReeper had posted on this the other day. Went looking and finally Googled "Flight 1824" and came up with bunch of hits. It's bouncing around the blogosphere but the MSM ignores. Drudge will ignore too until some legitimate outlet posts or he researches (which I doubt he does much anymore).

Suggest future stories on FR include the keyword "flight1824".
