Really?

The evidence I’ve seen paints an entirely different picture. So who’s lying: ABC, BBC, NHK or Iraqis?

Sadly, both ABC and the Iraqis are lying.

The legitimacy of the lies told by Iraqis are somewhat more comprehensible. ABC news trying to actively deceive the public about our success in Iraq is despicable.

Anonymous surveyors are asking Iraqis if they support killing US troops. If the anonymous surveyor hates the US, they may send back people to kill the respondent. If the anonymous surveyor is of US affiliation, it is safe to say either opinion.

Would this dilemma skew the data? Absolutely. So why does ABC not require pollsters to identify themselves? Because they want the respondents to take on that dilemma in the interest of news. Letting the Iraqi public face the gun or bomb is far preferable to losing journalistic assets.

This is a great view of the heartless view of American journalism.

Despite these dilemmas, if you read through the data, you can see how the survey actually shows success. People are more free to express opinions and Bagdad and Anbar are more secure.
