Enough is enough. Mayor Mark Funkhouser must swallow his pride and remove Frances Semler from Kansas Citys Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners.
As mayor, it is his responsibility to look out for the interests of the entire city. Driving away tourists and major conventions is not fiscally responsible, clear-headed thinking.

Give in to extortionate threats and you are guaranteed to get more extortionate threats.
According to Ms Semler, they pounded on her door and then fled before the cops came, leaving their "demands".
The lyrics from Monty Python's "Brave Sir Robin" come to mind.
Frances Semler did not open the door but phoned for police to remove this threatening rabble.
Libs in KC (namely those who supported former Mayor Kay Barnes (Steve Glorioso to name just one) didn't care for Funkkhowser as City Auditor, and felt they would surely defeat him in the election.
They lost and as in the case of Pres. Bush, have determined to oppose everything that the new Mayor does, especially when they can point to those awful, gun-tottin' racists, the Minute Men!!!
If you want wider interest in this case, I’d suggest trying to establish any links between the door people and major organizations such as AILA or NCLR. (And, since many get confused, just because a group has “la raza” in their name doesn’t mean they’re the NCLR).
If the Ku Klux Klan threatened to cancel a convention unless the city removed a black appointee, would this be the response? Of course not, although it is precisely the same situation.
It’s like the classic story about George Bernard Shaw, who once asked a woman at a party if she would sleep with him for ten thousand pounds. She said yes. Then he asked if she would sleep with him for five pounds. “What kind of a girl do you think I am?” she responded angrily. “We’ve already established that,” Shaw smiled, “now we’re just haggling over the price.”
We know what kind of “girl” these people are, too....
I was born and raised in KC, I see nothing has changed much in the intervening years of my childhood and now. They were knucking under to race then too. It’s real brave of 9 men to threaten one woman.
