Supervisor Ammiano drafting legislation for ID card for illegals
Wyatt Buchanan
San Francisco Supervisor Tom Ammiano is drafting legislation to create a city identification card for immigrants unable to get traditional ID cards, a move likely to anger advocates of tougher immigration enforcement. The cards would be accepted by all city agencies and organizations that receive city funding. Ammiano plans to introduce the legislation within a couple of weeks. He also is trying to persuade financial institutions to allow residents to use the cards to open accounts. "There is a large community who contribute, and there are not a lot of safeguards around their (immigration) status, their piece of mind and their ability to participate," Ammiano said, adding that the card would be available to all people living in San Francisco regardless of their immigration status. San Francisco could be the first large American city to have such a card. New Haven, Conn., has such a program, and New York City is considering one. Ammiano said the impetus for the city cards came from the immigrant community, which asked for his help. Illegal immigrants who are victims or witnesses of crime often do not report the incident because they have no identification and fear deportation. Identification also is needed for many services, such as city health care. San Francisco already has a sanctuary policy for immigrants, which means no city agency, including the police, will assist the federal government to deport

Board of Supervisors Tom Ammiano - District 9
Tom Ammiano - District 9

Supervisor Tom Ammiano Born December 15, 1941, Supervisor Ammiano represents District 9, encompassing parts of the Mission District and the Bernal Heights and Portola neighborhoods. He was elected to the city-wide Board in 1994, and re-elected in 1998, when he became Board President. His efforts to have the Board elected by district instead of city-wide succeeded, and, running as a resident of Bernal Heights, he was elected to the new Board in 2000 and 2004. Supervisor Ammiano grew up in Montclair, New Jersey. He received a bachelor's degree in communications from Seton Hall University in 1963 and a master's degree in special education from San Francisco State University in 1965. He taught English to children in South Vietnam as part of a Quaker program until 1968, when he left the country shortly after the Tet Offensive. Among his accomplishments on the Board of Supervisors is the creation of the San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance, which was passed by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors and signed by Mayor Gavin Newsom on August 7, 2006. This makes San Francisco the first city in the nation to provide universal healthcare access. Ammiano is also the main architect of the city's Domestic Partners Ordinance, which provides equal benefits to employees, and their unmarried domestic partners, in companies who do business with the City and County of San Francisco. Aside from his teaching and political activities, Tom Ammiano has been stand-up comedian since 1980. Sometimes called "The Mother of Gay Comedy," he pioneered open-mike gay comedy at the Valencia Rose cabaret in San Francisco. He was also featured in the Oscar-winning documentary The Times of Harvey Milk. |

"Supervisor Ammiano drafting legislation for ID card for illegals"If this works, then I suggest we draft legislation for ID cards for terrorists in the country, people with outstanding warrants, fugitives, and jail escapees. Hey, they need services too.

Your suggestions are a logical, natural progression from Supervisor Ammiano's groundbreaking (and treasonous) work.

"There is a large community who contribute, and there are not a lot of safeguards around their (immigration) status, Their "status" is "known criminals" and they belong in jail or deported. Liberals grow bolder everyday in their attempt to bring down the US constitution.

There will be a campaign in the hispanic media, to advertise this guy widely in Spanish, and instructing all of the illegals to go to his office and his residence and camp out and ask for free bennies, job offers, assistance, welfare, etc. Yessirre, we are going to start turning the hordes of illegal aliens right smack back on THEIR asses.

I have had 2 ferrets as pets in the past... and stoats look the same, a little smaller though....
I have searched the internet for ages trying to find out if they are related but have been unable to find any information. Are ferrets and stoats related?
Thanx ;)

Are ferrets and stoats related?Yes they are. They (we) belong to the zoological family Mustelidae of which I think there are about ten sub-classifications such as weasels, badgers, wolverines, otters, etc.
While ferrets enjoy wild mice to eat, we stoats typically will prefer a nice steak and an occasional glass of nice Irish whisky.
From Encarta:Scientific classification: Ermine belong to the family Mustelidae. The stoat is classified as Mustela erminea, the long-tailed weasel as Mustela frenata, and the least weasel as Mustela nivalis.
Scientific classification: Ferrets belong to the family Mustelidae. The domestic ferret is classified as Mustela putorius furo. The black-footed ferret is classified as Mustela nigripes.
There are also some pages at Wikipedia on stoats, ferrets, and the Mustelid family :-)
I hope that this helps.
