The failures of VWoA (and yes, I own two of those cars) are not gonna be solved by moving to VA. They have failed to compete w/ Honda and Toyota, or even GM and Ford. Aside from the Beetle, their styling is at best tolerated by buyers.
Worse yet, their best sales prospect, the 50 mph diesel models, are absent from the American market at the very time when they should be as hot, or hotter, than the hybrid vehicles.
Prior to the New Beetle’s introduction, it was common knowledge that VWoA was looking at leaving the American market. Sad to say, that’s about where they are today.
Not to be a smart*ss, but what does get involved in their community mean? Isn’t providing jobs doing enough? Where ever they decide to locate a plant or an HQ, their responsibility is to their stockholders.
