Aurora, IL (LifeNews.com) -- Hundreds of pro-life teenagers gathered outside the new abortion center in Aurora over the weekend to show their support for a campaign seeking to shut it down. Planned Parenthood upset pro-life advocates and surprised local officials by building the abortion facility entirely in secret using another name.
Pro-life groups have been working overtime with protests and meetings with city officials in an attempt to close the abortion facility.
The young Aurora residents rallied on the East side of town where the new center is scheduled to open in two weeks.
They are calling themselves Youth for Truth and they walked up and down East New York street with pro-life signs showing their opposition.
Mary Kate Guest, an Aurora teen who helped coordinate the event, told the Suburban Chicago News that more than 700 teens attended. The ad hoc group formed just two weeks ago as local residents learned more about the covert building process.
"Lots of kids feel this way," she said, "and we put this together because we know we can make a big stand."
The group printed 500 pro-life t-shirts and gave them all away, turning back dozens of others when the shirts ran out.
The pro-life youth group is getting help from Eric Scheidler, an Aurora resident who helps run the Pro-Life Action League, the lead group opposing the building of the Planned Parenthood center.
He told the News he hopes the protests will help stop the center from opening and said pro-life advocates continue to lobby city officials to deny Planned Parenthood to occupancy permit it needs.
"But if we can't stop if from opening, then we will already have claimed this land for God," he said. "We will already be at home here, fighting for life."
They KNOW how lucky they were in escaping the abortionists.
Pro-Life Ping
I’m glad to see the younger generation taking a stand in favor of life.
