ABC News' Bob Woodruff Reports: Senator Tim Johnson, the South Dakota Democrat who suffered a near fatal brain hemorrhage last December, will seek reelection in 2008.
Johnson greeted South Dakota voters Tuesday, in his first public appearance since falling ill.
We continue to wish Johnson well, but now that Johnson decided to seek reelection it's time for the gloves to come off. Johnson won reelection in 2002 by just 524 votes and was a tempting target even before he became ill.
Two Republicans, State Representative Joel Dykstra and business man Sam Kephart, are running for Johnson's seat.
As Larry Craig proves, and now this, elected officials don’t want to give up power, under any circumstances.
At the risk of being insensitive, why have the Republicans allowed Johnson to continue giving the Dems a majority in the Senate during war time? Oh, wait; I forgot. Repubs are cowards.
I’m glad to see that he’s recovered enough to return to the Senate and to perform his job. Whoever his Republican challenger is, he is going to have a very delicate job of taking him on, or he will end up looking like a terrible bully.
There should be a rule against this. I saw him he is not of right mind. I know Bird is still there but come on folks.
They had no choice. Unless he died, they could not replace him.
You got that right!
Un-frickin’-believable.
Anybody got the video of said appearance?
Are there any pics?
This should be a pick-up. Do you have a good comparison of the two Republicans? Kill the RINO in the primary?
On C-Span?
If what you say is true, and I don't have any reason to disbelieve you, there's nothing anyone can do except hope that the people of N.D., (?) S.D. (?) recognize that and elect someone who is able to give them better representation.
By what legal and constitutional method could the republicans have Johnson removed from the Senate, while the democrats are in control of the Senate?
The only method I know of is a vote to expel. And how many democrats would vote to expel? Exactly Zero.
South Dakota.

It was shown on ABC’s Nightline last night. If you go to that website, you can view it.
I have two words:
Term Limits
And how many Republicans would have voted to expel him? Under circumstances where he was ill, and recovery was possible, I can’t see anyone ever being expelled from Congress due to declining health.
Can you imagine the political reaction if Republicans had many any moves to expel him?
Maybe they’ll wheel him around as a puppet like Jim Brady or that guy in the Nazi episode of Star Trek?
