Filner: 'Regret' for Airport Incident

WASHINGTON, (AP) -- Rep. Bob Filner said Wednesday he regrets a recent incident at Dulles Airport in which he allegedly pushed a United Airlines baggage employee, resulting in assault and battery charges.

Filner, D-Calif., offered few details of the Aug. 19 incident in a three-sentence statement issued after he returned from a week in Iraq.

"I was tired after a delayed flight and frustrated by the subsequent further delay of the entire flight's baggage. But I did not want things to turn out as they did, with offense obviously taken and much misunderstanding," the statement said.

"This is an episode that I regret and hope to move beyond."

He's not the only elected official regretting an airport incident.

Hehehe, two airport stories so close together, I bet he gets confused with the bathroom stalker quite a few times.

We need to profile Government officials who enter airports.

Some AP editor somewhere is asleep at the switch. They accidentally let the party affiliation make it into the article.

Well, we all have hopes and dreams. Who knows, maybe the employee you shoved has hoped and dreamed for the day whan a self-aggrandizing ego-filled snot such as yourself would shove her so she can sue and later settle out of court...

He’s a good Democrat so this story needs to disappear.

Now with Larry Craig, that story needs to be front page news until Nov ‘08 since he’s an evil Republican.

No but based ont the reaction to Craig, I am just certain the headline covering this current Congressional folly should read

“Crisis in the Democrat Party..Has Bob Pilner Shoved Them Into Oblivion?

"This is an episode that I regret and hope to move beyond."

This is the phrase that the MSM loves. Don't you feel the love & forgiveness?

What a relief. At least Filner is a Democrat.

I don’t think the GOP can take any more scandals.

I don’t think posting his party affiliation was a mistake at all.

Almost everyone has experienced delays or misplaced luggage at the airport. People can relate to this Congresscritter’s anger. I don’t think the Democrats mind this association when compared to what the Republicans have to deal with from the fallout from Craig’s antics.

Sort of making lemonade out of lemons. I don’t even want to think of what drink the Republicans can make out of the Craig fiasco.

That's not really as funny as it sounds. We have a cousin who looks more Kennedy than some of the Kennedy's. He is a pilot who flies internationally for a private Christian firm and gets asked for autographs all the time. He's glad that's all he gets! He is the son of missionaries and has flown internationally since he was born. The recognition has been going on since he was a tot. He used to deny it, but said that no one believed him. He does give out autographs! LOL!
