It gets a little quiet this time of night anyway.

Tax-Chick usually shows up in the morning. She has a cat named Wednesday. I accused her of being a cheapskate by having a time-share cat.

‘Face has two cats, Calvin and Hobbes. She shows up when the sun shines in her living room window and wakes her from her torpor.

I show up whenever my wife is asleep, which is often.

This is my cat ...

Cat, Waiting For The Sunlight

The morning sun is shining bright,
Dust motes down the hall begin to stir.
Cat is sitting patiently, with paws tucked in for warmth,
Waiting for the Sun to start its purr.

Cat knows how to speak the language of the Sun,
She hears the happy thrumming of its voice.
And lying in the sunlight while the music plays,
Unless she’s really hungry, is her choice.

Of course the dog disturbs her reveries,
Crowding in to warm like a china bull,
She gives a stare that should melt fur.
Perhaps her batteries are not quite full.

Reluctantly, she leaves her post,
With a gaze of mild regret. She’s very put upon,
The Sun winks knowingly back to her,
They’ll have a tryst in private later on.
