US 'poised to strike Iran' Font Size: Decrease Increase
Geoff Elliott, Washington correspondent | August 25, 2007
BOB Baer, the former Middle East CIA operative whose first book about his life inspired the oil-and-espionage thriller Syriana, is working on a new book on Iran, but says he was told by senior intelligence officials that he had better get it published in the next couple of months because things could be about to change.
Baer, in an interview with The Weekend Australian, says his contacts in the administration suggest a strategic airstrike on Iran is a real possibility in the months ahead.
"What I'm getting is a sense that their sentiment is they are going to hit the Iranians and not just because of Israel, but due to the fact that Iran is the predominant power in the Gulf and it is hostile and its power is creeping into the Gulf at every level," Baer says.

Ping!
Idiot hyping his book deal.
Drive-by media has to push Pres. Bush out of Iraq first...
At last some good news.
Yes, from my understanding, Syriana is left-leaning propaganda about the role of the oil industry in politics.
they don’t have to, just airdrop guns, ammo & grenades into Iran with a pamphlet that says, “Poop or get off the pot, clean up your own country”, that way the students can do the job themselves...
Baer is a left wing politico, and I highly doubt he has any contacts in the administration. He is putting this forth to put more pressure on GW and Cheney from striking Iran. Just another annoying ankle bitter which will make no difference. Baer belongs to “VIPS”, a liberal intelligence think tank suspected of helping with the flow of intelligence leaks against the adminstration in the past. Larry Johnson, super spy - only 4 years at the CIA, Mary McCarty (I believe) and Valerie Plame supporters all belong to VIPS.
I see.
Yes. I saw it when it came on cable. It stank.
That’s Mary O. McCarthy. (in case anyone wants to look her up).:)
Actually, this is one thing I wish the left were right about, but suspect they're not.
We'll see.
You might be right. That's what I hear anyway.
Now, I did actually see the movie, but it was so boring and unintelligible that I couldn't tell what its point was, if any. Not a good sign if it was really an attempt at propaganda.
Well, such a movie can be only interesting if you fully subscribe to their kooky conspiracy theories.
Yes, thank you. I misspelled her name. Mary O McCarthy, fired by the CIA and escorted out of the building for leaking the CIA prisons story to Dana Priest at WAPO.
Yes. I can’t imagine how anyone felt who bothered to go to the theatre to see it. Agenda-driven movies tend to be pretty awful, imho.
Bush and Cheney will not leave office with a nuclear Iran.
