His show was in the tradition of "Rocky & Bullwinkle" as being slanted toward adults without the kids catching on.
While eating Sat. morning breakfast (late 80s or early 90s) and my 11year-old son was watching Pee Wee's Playhouse", I heard the punchline of a well-known dirty joke: "Would I, Would I"....most of us know what follows and those who don't have nothing to gain from finding out, but they carried the joke through, verbatim, and none of them cracked a grin.
“Do you really think a homosexual who defines themselves by a perverted act is not going to bring it into the classroom?”
If a homosexual defined himself by perverted acts then no, I do not want him in the classroom. But the reality is is that most do not, just as you and I define ourselves as more than just our own sexual preferences. History is replete with great minds and teachers whose sexual preference while may be abhorent, they were great teachers nonetheless. Ever hear of Socrates?
Socrates was ordered to drink hemlock for corrupting the youth, if I recall correctly. That's what his contemporaries thought of his 'great mind'.
Plato was more of a conservative on the subject. My understanding is that he coined the phrase “Tyranny of the Appetite” in reference to uncontrolled sexual urges.
