This is the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen. NY suing a gun dealer in GA.

I thought Bloomberg had gotten his peepee slapped by DOJ over this. Too bad the NRA and other pro Second Amendment groups didn’t help these small shops stand up to bully Bloomberg.

“large quantities of handguns used by local criminals to terrorize significant portions of the City’s population.”

can I be a “special master”?

Okay, this is how it works.

Gun dealers have to rely on the buyer’s honesty and integrity, saying they are who they say they are, and are buying the gun for themselves, who will be the lawful owner, and will not commit a crime with the purchased weapon. They also have to have a clean record to purchase the weapon.

That being said, it is then the dealer’s responsibility to do a background check, after which it comes up negative, he can then sell the gun to the person buying it.

If Bloomberg is ordering people to make straw purchases, the responsibility ends for the gun dealer after the background check is completed. I firmly believe he’s exonerated from anything further after that.

Bloomberg is on a witch hunt of which will certainly fail. I wish I knew requirements to run for NYC mayor. I’d bring guns back, as well as fun and honesty. And my fireworks, I miss stuff that goes boom.

Are these part of the same series of suits that Giuliani initiated?

Taking guns away from criminal in NYC would be money and time better spent than sending some Hacks to 5 states to see if you can turn someone into a criminal.

Guess he is just trying to keep the title Ruby Rudy got as “America’s Mayor”.

Who’s paying for this “Special Master” BS? (And who dreamed up that slave owner title for some worthless clerk?)

have agreed to settlements providing for a Special Master selected by the City and appointed by the court to monitor their firearms sales activities.

Note those words, special and master. Not just "master" (as if that wasnt bad enough), but SPECIAL master.

Those two gun dealing shops (John's Gun & Tackle Room of Easton, Pennsylvania, and Franklin Rod & Gun Shop of Rocky Mount, Virginia,) now have New York "special masters" whose responsibility is to report gun transactions. You go into either of those two shops, buy a gun, it will get reported to the government of New York.

The government of New York is now your master. Your special master.

Dammit, if the Confederacy hadn't lost the war, this wouldnt be going on.

And aren't the states of Pennsylvania and Viriginia going to stand up for their sovereignty?

I believe there's a federal statute forbidding dealers from disclosing the contents of 4473's to anyone other than federal government personnel. Would purchasers fill out other forms for the "special masters"? Could the dealers legally be obligated to confirm that those other forms matched the 4473's, given that such confirmation would disclose the contents of the 4473's to unauthorized personnel?

What's the statute of limitations on civil rights charges anyway? I'd love to see a new President direct the justice department to pursue all cases of this nonsense not blocked by statute of limitations. Not likely I know, but I can dream.

Mayor Bloomie has delusions of grandeur. He must think he's already bought the Whitehouse, and is the boss of all 50 states.

Somebody tell this jerk he's a MAYOR for crying out loud!

Every gun shop that caved needs to go out of business.
