I read a report of an anthropologist who had taken a recent trip to a remote part of New Guinea, he had to pay the tribes before they would allow him entry. Anyway, he said the government and the tribes swear that cannabilism (eating of humans) had ceased. But, he said that isn't the case. Seems the natives have a new tact, they claim now that an evil spirit/being can 'take-over' a human body and that 'it' is no longer human and okay to kill and eat. They're eating the evil/foreign spirit now, not humans.

Well, Methodists are sweet. If they had eaten a Baptist, they’d have developed dyspepsia and sworn off the ‘long pig’ forever.

A good friend (now deceased) of mine flew the second group od misionaries into this tribe and they weren’t eaten since they worshop birds and their arriving in a chopper made them equivelant to god.

He brought back a number of artifacts, including the pot that the first ones were boiled in, and if they are still there he donaated most of them to a museum in San Francisco.

It’s a real long wild story on his trip into this tribe which i won’t go into, who had never seen anyone from the outside world except the 2 missionaries that they boiled and shrunk their heads.

Hey! Don't you know the Methodists are supposed to apolgize to you for judging your quaint non-western ways by biased western standards???? What's going on here! Has the world turned upside down?

You guys are "noble savages," and that's beautiful. It's the plain ordinary "savages" who aren't noble (ie, Biblical Fundamentalists) whose worldview rationalistic westerners are supposed to destroy! Didn't you get the memo???

Note for possible revision to Methodist missionary handbook:

1) Should you be insulted by the native Papuan cannibal tribes, tis best to not respond by replying, "Eat me!".

1a) "Bite me!", is also a phrase that should be avoided.
