Michael Savage Responds to Attack by San Francisco Supervisor

After San Francisco Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval introduced a resolution condemning the "defamatory language used by radio personality Michael Savage against immigrants,” Savage lashed back at the newly elected supervisor.

"Illiberalism is not only a mental disorder it is fascist at its core,” the mega-popular talk show host told NewsMax.com. "This schmuck says my comments are 'symbolic of hatred and racism.' And they want the City to sue me for 'symbolism.'

"There is no basis in American Law for such a suit but the larger point is the astonishing hate speech he is engaging in. To stop opinion by threatening legal action is akin to using the power of the State to control thought and speech.”

This, Savage fumed "is something out of Kafka and the ex-Soviet Union. Moreover, this illegitimi is working on behalf of a foreign government against an American Citizen. Does this constitute harassment against me? My attorney will soon answer this question as I ponder suing the City of San Francisco.”

Savage had suggested that a group of students who were fasting to advocate for immigration policy changes should be allowed to fast "until they starve to death, then that solves the problem.”

Meanwhile, Savage reminded NewsMax that the San Francisco Chronicle reported an apparent anti-Semitic remark Sandoval made, when he said that San Francisco residents who resented business leaders suing the city should picket them "at their houses in Tiburon and at their bar mitzvahs."

No difference between modern leftist and totalitarian communists. They share the same passion for obliterating the rights and freedoms of anyone they disagree with.

If you’ve been feeling a bit too cheery lately, nothing like a bit of Michael Savage to fix your mood.

It depends on what he’s talking about. He’s right on the money here though.

This from World Net Daily:

"You are protected by this civil rights act because you are the victim of the same type of mob terror that (the) Klan used to inflict," wrote Horowitz. "This terror is being organized against you simply because people do not like what you say. Translated into legal language, you are being attacked by a type of terrorist because you have exercised your First Amendment rights."

Horowitz wrote: "The Klansman in your case is wearing a suit and not a white robe. He is doing his dirty work under the hood of his elected position instead of under the coward's hood of the Klan."

The call for action against Savage came at the same time city supervisors were considering using taxpayer dollars to pay for immigrants' green cards and citizenship.

Sandoval's resolution condemns Savage for "defamatory language ... against immigrants." The resolution was in response to Savage's July 5 broadcast, when the talker commented on a group of students who had announced they were fasting in support of changes in immigration policy.

"I would say, let them fast until they starve to death," quipped Savage, "then that solves the problem."

Sandoval's resolution calls Savage's comments "symbolic of hatred and racism."

"I really for the life of me cannot understand why there is not more media outrage to what Michael Savage said," Sandoval said. He plans to hold a press conference on the steps of City Hall Tuesday just before the entire Board of Supervisors votes on his resolution against Savage.

"The intolerant and racist comments of Michael Savage demand a strong condemnation," Sandoval insisted.

In response, Horowitz wrote: "This Sandoval fellow accused you of using 'defamatory language ... against immigrants.' Of course, this statement by Sandoval is slander. I have listened to your show. You are very complimentary of immigrants. In fact, you frequently mention that your parents were immigrants. The slander by Sandoval arises because he claims that your opposition to illegal entry into this country is somehow a stand against Hispanics. That is like saying that every Border Patrol agent and every Congress person is anti-immigrant because they don't condone illegal border crossing."

"I will back you, Michael, and file this lawsuit if you wish," concluded Horowitz. The San Francisco government's proposed resolution condemning Savage is just the latest in a major, multifaceted – and largely unreported – effort both in and out of government to transform American talk radio. The entire campaign, complete with details of battles against Rush Limbaugh, Savage and other top talkers, is revealed in-depth in the current edition of WND's monthly Whistleblower magazine, titled THE WAR ON TALK RADIO."

Michael Savage: General Patton of the Airwaves
“It’s the unconcquerable soul of man, not the nature of the weapons he uses, that insures victory.” General George S. Patton, Jr.

Smarting from the loss of the “comprehensive” (read amnesty) immigration bill, the illegal alien crowd is targeting its enemies for payback time. One of the targets is Michael Savage, who lent his considerable talent to telling U.S. citizens just what was in that bill.

The bill seemed like a sure thing. Lots of influential groups were behind it. Some of them were included in the closed door meetings in which the bill was formulated before it was presented to the Senate. Promoters were Senator Kennedy and Democrat Harry Reid. Notable Republican senators were kept out of the meetings and the wordy bill was presented as a “fait accompli” to them and their Democrat counterparts.

The heavy hitters included ethnic pressure groups such as La Raza (The Race), big business interests and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, or so it was reported. The Washington Post reported that the National Council of La Raza was “granted virtual veto power” and that Latino groups “were practically in the room”. The so-called mainstream media offered no help in identifying the participants. Nonetheless, talk show hosts and the internet provided enough information that many average American citizens shut down the government phone lines at one point, so outraged were they at this blatant attempt to give to illegal aliens all the benefits accorded to citizens, and then some.

Michael Savage has become the flashpoint for the bitter illegal alien lobby. Coincidentally (?), he has been the target of personal harassment. Some of his female office workers received mail that was pornographic, as well. Savage says he is taking legal action and will give the results when there are any to report.

These efforts are directed at shutting Savage up. It is a divide and conquer ploy, and if they are successful, all those who agree with him will become targets, also. He is in an alien city, in many ways. The city has devolved into a politically correct one, where every conceivable viewpoint is hailed as wonderful diversity, except people with the views of Michael Savage. No free speech for Savage and his supporters.

There were many talk show hosts who educated the average American as to what was buried in the amnesty bill. They ordinarily are a somewhat competitive lot, and hardly mention any of their counterparts. They all have a niche and have loyal (deservedly so) followers. However, now might be the time for them to show some solidarity with Savage. If this talker falls, no others will be safe. It is the old saying: “When they came for Michael Savage, I wasn’t concerned because my program is not like Savage’s, so I didn’t do anything....” Soon enough, “they” will be coming for the rest of the talkers.

The latest attack on Savage is being made by San Francisco officials who are “trying to force taxpayers to pay for immigrants’ green cards and citizenship - and to bolster their case for the new tax, they’ve introduced a resolution condemning national radio talk-show host Michael Savage for what they call his ‘defamatory’ language....against immigrants”, according to WorldNet Daily.

Also, according to WorldNet Daily....”Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval introduced a resolution condemning popular talk-show host Michael Savage, a mainstay of the San Francisco airways for years”....

Sandoval’s resolution calls Savage’s comments “symbolic of hatred and racism” (WorldNet Daily quotes the San Francisco Examiner)

Sandoval has in his history some racism of his own. According to Wikipedia Answers.com, “Shortly after his election, Sandoval suggested at a public political that San Franciscans ought to organize protests against litigious CEOs, picketing their ‘houses in Tiburon and their bar mitzvahs‘. His association of evil and greed with being Jewish subjected him to charge of anti-Semitism. Sandoval later apologized to San Francisco Jewish community leaders for making the remark.”

Gerardo Sandoval appeared with Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes in February of 2006 because he was one of the board of supervisors who rejected a plan to bring the historic World War II Iowa battleship to San Francisco. Hannity asked in several different ways why Sandoval was against the warship. One response was that it had guns on it. Even Alan Colmes, who usually opposes Hannity’s viewpoint, was aghast at Sandoval’s opposition to anything military. When Colmes asked, flat out, if we should have a military, Sandoval answered “I don’t think we should have a military. Absolutely.”

Sandoval doesn’t like Savage for what he perceives as racism. He certainly does not like hearing from a person not afraid of expressing a viewpoint. No doubt he thinks it may be too militant. Michael Savage is the General Patton of the airways. In this battle against illegal aliens he could be considered the shock troops.

General Patton said “Lead me, follow me, or get out of my way”, a slogan Savage could just as well have stated. The ever clueless press of the time wrote stories about how General Patton treated his soldiers badly and how they didn’t respect him. Yet, at the time of his funeral almost 20,000 soldiers volunteered to be his pall bearers.

Those who have seen the movie “Patton” with George C. Scott standing in front of the huge American flag, would not have a hard time picturing Savage in that role. Savage is fighting his own battle for his country and is marshaling his own army of sorts. This battle will be fought without military weapons. It will be fought with words, using the same freedom of speech first guaranteed by our Constitution.

Let the battle of words continue.

He may be abusive, but he does what the Republicans won’t do and that is stick it right back in their (the Liberals) face. And he does so with logic and the law, not feelings and feel good garbage the liberals are so fond of.

Savage said he will sue the city and supervisors. I'll believe it when I see it. I remember a similar tirade when he was not considered for the Dean of the Journalism School at UC Berkeley. There were the same threats of litigation, chest thumping and feces throwing but no litigation.......

It's just good theater. Aside from stirring up his base and fishing for some links and references to expand his notoriety it is all meaningless.

I don’t particularly like Savage, but its a free country (?) and you can say what you want.

If you want authentic hate speech, just check out Kos or DU for 5 minutes.

I realize that inflammatory language is Savage's schtick, but he wouldn't get himself into hot water if he'd use ridicule instead, ala Rush Limbaugh (and yes, I know he destests Rush).

For instance, he could've made fun of the fasting students by evoking memories of The Rev'rund Jackson's "rolling fast", or Mama Moonbat Sheehan's fast where she looked like she actually packed on some weight.
