Why would the authorities be checking radiation after a vehicle accident? Maybe detectors are now placed judiciously around cities, and authorities can draw upon this data?

Maybe detectors are now placed judiciously around cities, and authorities can draw upon this data? More than they want to let on. But I will say no more. Suffice it to say I trust the NYPD far more than I do the FBI. They really are on top of things, believe me.
