'Truth' lures writer-director Lurie [Plamegate Barfer]

Rod Lurie will next direct his script "Nothing but the Truth," a drama about a D.C.-based female newspaper reporter who outs a CIA agent and is imprisoned for refusing to reveal her source.

Cast is mobilizing for an October production start. Talks are under way for Kate Beckinsale to play the journalist, Matt Dillon the prosecutor, Vera Farmiga the CIA agent, Edie Falco (in her first role since "The Sopranos") the editor of the newspaper that published the story and Alan Alda the attorney who tries to free the reporter from jail.

Marc Frydman will produce and the Yari Film Group will finance. Bob Yari bought the spec script after working with Lurie on the Josh Hartnett-Samuel L. Jackson starrer "Resurrecting the Champ," which the Yari Film Group releases next month.

"Nothing but the Truth" parallels the case of Valerie Plame, whose status as a CIA agent was exposed in the media after her husband, Ambassador Joe Wilson, wrote a New York Times op-ed piece charging the Bush administration with manipulating intelligence to justify the invasion of Iraq.

Former New York Times reporter Judith Miller went to jail to protect her sources, and Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, was convicted of perjury, making false statements to federal investigators and obstruction of justice. President Bush commuted his 30-month jail sentence.

Lurie, who tackled D.C. politics with his breakthrough film "The Contender," aims to start his pic well ahead of a WB project that will be told from the vantage point of Plame and Wilson.

Jez and John Butterworth are already scripting the Warner pic and Akiva Goldsman and Jerry and Janet Zucker are producing.

Plamegate, which is already overloaded with fictional nonsense from the Wilsons and a servile leftist media, will now be further fictionalized by Hollywood.

What a title..... “Nothing But the Truth”

Anyone think that the MSM or Hollywood cares anything about the truth??????

Who actually believes that Plamegate has had anything to do with truth?????

This is just one more example of the false mythology the Leftist media machine creates and dispenses.

They are just adding one more section to their false framework of lies and invented reality, and they will attempt to build upon this false mythology further, using it as “proof” without ever being seriously examined or held to proper account.

This is the real war.

Nowhere in the article do they mention that Richard Armitage was the leaker. Shameless.

So true - it is just pure leftist drivel, unadulterated propaganda. But why must the WH continue to be so inept in countering it?? I know they face grave challenges in trying to get their message heard, but in this case, people in the WH don’t even seem to have a clue, they haven’t even TRIED to get the real facts out..... as instanced in President Bush’s lame remarks on the Scooter Libby case. That was the perfect instance to take on the lying jackals of the MSM, Fitzfong, and the Plamegate promoters.... instead the WH actually endorsed the idea that Fitzfong had done a good job. With ‘friends’ like that who needs enemies?

Too bad — I used to like Edie Falco.

There is a veritable industry out there right now trying to answer that question. If you start with the assumption that Bush is a conservative, it just doesn’t add up. On the other hand, if you see Bush as a blue-blood aristocratic pseudo conservative, then it makes pretty good sense. He is a conservative when it comes to economic issues, but that is in his own best interest too so thats no surprise.

Both the aristocratic Dems and Pubies look feel some sense of “noblesse oblige”, but only when the PUBLIC coffers are in play. Their own personal sacrifice is always limited to “public service” - They never have to sacrifice their worldly goods in any real tangible sense and they reap the benefits of being in control of the levers of power. And so it is (IMHO) with Bush. His personal mission to play savior (to the Mexicans in particular) means he simply will not listen to any arguments to the contrary. After all, he shouldn’t have to, he is a blue-blood and used to getting his way.
