Amid what Washington sees as unsettling signs of warming Baghdad-Tehran relations, Mr Bush said he was not surprised at pictures yesterday that showed cordial meetings between Mr Maliki and top Iranian leaders in Tehran, but he said he hoped the Shia leader was delivering a tough message.

The Iraqis have been complaining about senior government officials' close ties with Iran for some time now. (Now that they are allowed to criticize their leaders, they do so with great gusto.)

It is one the the biggest problems in Iraq now.

Iran needs to be removed from the Iraqi equation, regardless of how it is done.

Heck yes. And if it is not done under this President, I fear it will only get worse unless the country is smart enough to keep a democrat out of the WH.

Well, so much for an independent Iraq with a freely elected constitutional government.............

I'd like to know what's wrong with warning Iraq that Tehran wants to mess up everything Iraq has worked for. Isn't that what friends do...warn each other?
