“Limited English Proficiency Barrier to Safe Prescription Use”
Translation from Yoda-speak:
“English to Use Limited Prescription Proficiency Barrier.”
And it is our problem, our fault. LEARN ENGLISH!
In otherwords if you have LEP then SUE your local pharmacy...
LEP??!...like is a damn disabilty?
*bangs head on keyboard*
The general standard in their courts is that you bring your own interpreter.
I would imagine it's the same in commerce ~ (slapping forehead ~ gee that was an obvious one) ~ and selling medicine is, at its root, a form of commerce.
Seems the US would be well advised to simply adopt the well-practiced Indian national standard.
Here’s my prescription and it’s in English.
Learn the damned language or pack up and skeedaddle.
This isn’t Mexico. It isn’t France. It isn’t anything but the United States where the citizens and those who actually aspire to become one learn “ENGLISH”!
Got LEP? Would surgery or a pill cure it?
Time to learn ENGLISH!
I’ve got the solution:
NO ENGLISH - NO PRESCRIPTION!
Which is why the Indians who work here learn the one common language that their Indian co-workers speak....English.
Still, my point was the Indian standard for a multi-culti-linguistic problem is for you, the customer, or the litigant, to BRING YOUR OWN TRANSLATOR.
They make no effort whatsoever to translate for the supplicant. The news piece we are discussing is about how English speakers can bow down and kiss the tush on every non-English speaker they encounter like they are supposed to be some kind of universal servant class.
Anyone living here should be prepared to speak English or find a translator who can help them. Ain't my job!
How did our European forefathers make it in America without translators at the local pharmacy? They must have all died.
They are not Spanish only speakers-they are linguistically challenged. Add to the PC dictionary and apply for benefits tomorrow!
The only purpose of this is to open the door for a class action lawsuit. This is why we need an English-only law.
This is so incredibly stupid. Obviously some doctor was able to take a history and do a physical on these people to the degree that they could write a prescription for them. Anyone who comes to my office has a “right” to a translator so that things are explained to them in their own language. More often, the patient comes with someone who can translate. Is it the governments responsibility to come to the patients house and make sure they are taking their pills correctly? At some point people have to take responsibility for themselves.
In fact, I can use the internet to get just about anything translated ~ except Old West Gothic but that's coming!
Eventually, people will be provided a subcutaneous neurotransponder at their time of entry into this country. It will connect them to the Overmind which will provide them with all the meaningful answers (arrayed according to relevance from 1 to 100).
Undocumented tourists who have missed out on acquiring their subcutaneous neuraltransponders will, of course, be left to die in the streets.
Could be a rough place to live.
