Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser, 56, has died, multiple coaching sources including one head coach in the ACC have told Rivals.com.

The sports information office at Wake Forest would neither confirm nor deny the report.

The Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal reported on its Web site that Prosser "collapsed while jogging at the university." An athletic department official told the newspaper that the coach was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

His condition wasn't available from the hospital.

Prosser was 126-68 in six seasons in Winston-Salem. His overall career record was 291-146 in 14 seasons, including seven seasons at Xavier.

This report shouldn’t be issued until it can be confirmed.

Wake Forest University men’s basketball coach Skip Prosser died Thursday morning, after collapsing while jogging on campus in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in the United States.

Prosser was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, where he later died. The collapse was reported to be a result of a heart attack. He was 56 years old.

Prosser started coaching at Wake Forest in 2001. During his first four seasons, he led the Demon Deacons to the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament; however, his team missed out during the past two seasons.

Before coming to Wake Forest, Prosser coached at Xavier for seven years. He had a 126-68 record at Wake Forest and an overall record of 291-146.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, and his two sons.

Yes he was. It’s a terrible loss not just to his family and to Wake Forest but to the ACC and to NCAA aports. So very very sad.
