WFPIST condemns Wahhabi Fatwa for desecration of Iraqi holy sites

The World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) condemned the Fatwas attributed to certain extremist muftis which threaten destruction of Shiite holy shrines in Iraq.

The WFPIST statement read, "Such Fatwas are the maniac decrees that have been issued by certain wise looking but insane individuals without taking their grave consequences into consideration."

It added that such decrees would have no benefit but serving Iraqi occupiers and providing them a pretext for their continued illegitimate presence in the Islamic land.

It warned that desecration of holy sites in Iraq -- as was the case with the holy twin shrines of al-Askari in Samarra -- would fan flames of war and bloodshed in Iraq that are feared to spread to other parts of the world of Islam.

WFPIST called on the statesmen of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, to act on their religious and legal duty to condemn such gestures before flames of tension are ignited and spread in the world of Islam.

Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and some other leading Wahhabi muftis have reportedly endorsed a fatwa allowing for the destruction of Shiite holy shrines of Imam Hossein and his brother Hazrat Abbas in Karbala, Iraq, and of their sister Hazrat Zeinab in Damascus, Syria.

In the decree Wahhabis are asked to destroy all signs of `polytheism' in Iraqi cities.

"The shrine of (Imam) Hossein in Karbala, as one of the main symbols of Shiites, should be destroyed," the decree said.

Following the decree, a number of university students at Mohammad bin Saud University formed voluntary committees with the aim of attracting members from the Persian Gulf neighboring states for destroying these shrines in the near future.

Like I bin sayin', these Gulf Region muslims are going to be too busy exterminating each other to be much of a threat to us.

We need to focus on Pakistan/Afghanistan.
