Chertoff: 'Operational Control' of Border by 2013 (progress?)
Newsmax.com ^ | 7/19/07

Posted on 07/20/2007 5:48:15 AM PDT by msnpatriot

Construction on the wall already has begun in Arizona, Chertoff said. Washington aims to have "operational control" of the border by 2013 by building the 700-mile (1,120-km) wall along parts of the frontier and creating a "virtual fence" in desert areas with drones, sensors, cameras, satellite technology and vehicle barriers.

If the curators of the 'virtual' fence system are not serious, the border could also be no more secure than it is now. He who controls the 'controls', controls the fence. And what is written here can convince a number of Americans 'they' listened to us! :^)

Yah, the physical fence is better in that sense. Actual hurdle regardless of attitude towards enforcement.

Get Chertoff off the television. Please. Immediately.

Get Condi Rice in front of the television.

Don’t let George Bush talk if he’s not going to pardon those Border Guards.

Who’s in charge over there???

I call BS too but I will say this: They are starting to pay lip service to doing some of the right things and that is progress of a sort.

Some of the outrage is beginning to penetrate the beltway bubble. We need to keep up the pressure and demand something concrete be done NOW.

We are all SCREAMING and they never hear!

He makes me physically ill because I just have a gut feeling, that I know this fence will never be built. A date set for the future that will guarantee it will no longer be necessary to build a fence.

The lies go on...and...on......

Nehemiah led the “Minutemen” of ancient Israel—

8 I replied, “There is no truth in any part of your story. You are making up the whole thing.”

9 They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination. “Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands.”

15 So the wall was completed...in fifty-two days.

16 When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.

17 During those fifty-two days, many letters went back and forth between Tobiah and the nobles of Judah.

18 For many in Judah had sworn allegiance to him because his father-in-law was Shecaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan was married to the daughter of Meshullam son of Berekiah.

19 They kept telling me about Tobiah’s good deeds, and then they told him everything I said. And Tobiah kept sending threatening letters to intimidate me.

This is WHY we must elect DUNCAN HUNTER.

He has promised to have the border secured in 6 MONTHS. At the rate Chertoff is working, Hunter says it will take decades.

Not another candidate has been as specific about WHAT he will do and HOW he will get the job done!!

During WW II, less than 12,000 officers and soldiers constructed a 1,524 mile road from BC to Alaska in less than 9 months. Most of this construction took place in almost complete, uninhabited, wilderness and in cold weather.

>>
The Alaska Highway, also the Alaskan Highway, Alaska-Canadian Highway, and the Alcan Highway, runs from Dawson Creek, British Columbia to Delta Junction, Alaska, via Whitehorse, Yukon. Its historical length as of all-weather completion in 1943 is 2,451 kilometers or 1,523 mile(s) long. The historic ending of the highway is near milepost 1422, where it meets the Richardson Highway in Delta Junction, Alaska, about 100 miles (160km) southeast of Fairbanks. Mileposts on the Richardson Highway are numbered from Valdez, Alaska.

From the looks of it, while the administration loves to use the phrase “war on terror”, it is clear that the bureaucracies don’t understand we are really at war with people who want to destroy the nation and kill as many of us as possible.

How many OTM’s are going to sneak into the US via Mexico, and how much stuff are they going to drag along with them, stuff that might cause death and destruction of US citizens?

Everybody take a breath.

The administration and the powers that be have gotten the message, NO guest worker program and NO amnesty until border security shows real progress.

The administration is finally doing what we demanded and we now need to support them. More agents, more technology and better tactical infrastructure are absolutely required to control our borders.

At this point we are winning on all fronts, the debate is over, border security comes first. If we keep kicking the administration to the curb they may loose interest, hold their feet to the fire yes, but also support them when they are on the right track.

Yes, they will be back with another comprehensive immigration bill. With the borders under control we can take a serious look at it at that time, but in the interim we need to milk all the enforcement out of them we can.

Well let's see. At the current rate of border busting, not the "last chance fire sale" We are getting what, three million illegals per year? And given that even the US Gubberment can build a fence in "only" 6 years, and given that they are forced to build the fence coast to coast and not the "traffic counter" virtual bs they want to stiff us on, that would come to "only" another eighteen to ohhh, twenty MILLION illegals that are dragging down the entire united States.

That would bring the total number of actual adult criminal illegal border law violators to roughly FIFTY MILLION.

That means that out of every ten folks in the u.S., three of them are criminal illegal alien border law violators.

that is one in seven.

One in SEVEN

Whew buddy, yea, we’re “gittn tuff” now huh?

Dang right they won't, if they ever were they would have done it by now. It’s about time that everybody just quit even hoping that the politicians are not lying to us.

They ARE LYING TO US. Get used to it

So everyone had best get fully armed because that lovely "culture of family values" is going to take a big s**t right here. How can we deal with it? Learn from looking at mexico...

The only way to survive it is FULLY armed defense. The only way to beat it is do what they are NOT doing in mexico.

Pushing the politicians up against the wall.

Just posting a useful fact that I picked up looking up the Minutemen:

Last year, despite opposition from the entire political establishment, Arizona voters passed Proposition 200, blocking illegal immigrants from most public services. And it’s not just Anglos who are getting fed up: Proposition 200 garnered support from 47 percent of Arizona’s Hispanic voters. This summer, a special issue of Time magazine focusing on the Hispanic influence in America also polled attitudes about illegal immigration: 61 percent of Hispanics said it was an “extremely serious” or “very serious” problem.
