The Bohus county lobster has one, as does the oyster. Now the humble shrimp has one too - its own academy. The institute will have the remit of spreading knowledge about the little sea beast's splendid qualities. reported local newspaper Bohusläningen.
Strömstad will be the home of the academy. It was from here that Sweden's first commercial shrimp trawler departed at the beginning of the last century. Today the industry is worth more than 100 million kronor a year.
The academy will be inaugurated on the Shrimp Day, July 21st. The board of the academy will consist of 12 people. The patron will be the celebrity restaurateur Carl-Jan Granqvist.
“Today the industry is worth more than 100 million kronor a year.”
100 million kronor = $15 million
uhmmm yeah.
They taste good just about anyway you cook them.
Maybe they can teach them to whip up their own cocktail sauce for us. Now that would be worthwhile.
Like, they will come up with better recipes??
Bubba: Anyway, like I was sayin’, shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that’s about it.
