I mean, Moore pronounced Gupta like "Goopta" -- but isn't that pretty close to the way it really should be pronounced?

Much as I detest Moore, I think somebody's overreacted here.

But my computer audio did hiccup a few times with the sound, so maybe I missed it.

You need to go back to the video tape.

At the end of the clip Moore very deliberately and with animated facial expression mocks and exaggerates Gupta's name. He was clearly attempting to do a piece of Indian dialect shtick.

There was nothing subtle about this racist slur.

Same here. I watched it all the way to the end. He didn't misprounounce the name. He emphasized it back to Blitzer because Blitzer kept using the name over and over and over.

Moore is an idiot. But he wasn't mocking Dr. Gupta.

It's near the end where he says the name in an exaggerated tone. But it's not clear he's being disdainful of Gupta's ethnic heritage or just the Dr. himself.
