It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. "Wear Red" Friday

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Sticky Burdens

Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you. —Psalm 55:22

Have you ever had Super Glue or oil-based paint on your fingers? If so, you may have discovered that what seemed impossible to remove can be taken off with the right solution.

Life’s burdens can be that way. Someone I was mentoring sent me an e-mail and asked me to pray. It read: “I can’t shake this burden. It’s something I haven’t been able to give up to God. I’m very sad about it and know that I must hand it over to Him and be transformed. I truly need God’s strength to rid myself of it. I know that God’s forgiveness can clean me if I let it. I just must choose to let it.”

I responded, “The joy of the Christian life is knowing that God can handle anything we hand over to Him. . . . But at the same time, the great burden of the Christian life is that we—weak and helpless individuals that we are—hang on to stuff we know we need to give to God. We all know the feeling.”

Our sins and concerns, big and small, seem to stick to us like Super Glue. The solution? We need to take those burdens off our own hands and put them on God’s shoulders. The Bible tells us: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you” (Ps. 55:22).

Why carry around those sticky burdens?

God knows our burdens and our crosses,
Those things that hurt, our trials and losses,
He cares for every soul that cries,
And wipes the tears from weeping eyes. —Brandt

God tells us to burden Him with what burdens us.
