Hundreds Rally in D.C. to Support Legal Rights for Gitmo Prisoners (Hunter punches back- Audio)

In Washington, several hundred people rallied in favor of restoring legal rights to prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay. But San Diego Republican Congressman Duncan Hunter says that's a bad idea. Charles Davis reports from Capitol Hill.

Habeas corpus is the legal principle that says no one may be imprisoned without first being charged with a crime. Of the over 400 people held at Guantanamo, only three have been charged with anything. At a press conference, Hunter responded to that number by arguing that all prisoners have been found to be "enemy combatants" by a military tribunal.

Hunter: According to our Armed Services staff, 100 percent of them have had the review. So whoever gave you the information that very few of them have been brought up is wrong. They all have.

Critics say the tribunal process prevents the accused from consulting a lawyer and allows evidence that may have been obtained using torture. Legislation restoring the right of habeas corpus has been introduced in both houses of Congress, but faces an almost certain veto from President Bush.

From Capitol Hill, Charles Davis, KPBS News.

Where are the rest of the spineless GOPers? Hunter is from El Cajon. Apparently, cajones are in short supply elsewhere.

Hunter is not only having to beat back the dems on this, he has had to take Secretary of Defense Gates to task for his lilly livered waffling.

Amazing people get this worked up to fight for the rights of people whose sole goal is to kill as many Americans as possible.

And the ever dutiful dems are trying to give these mortal enemies the same rights as a US citizen. Unbelievable.

Who are these people who run in the street to support terrorists? They can’t be Americans. Let’s hope the FBI took pictures. Any illegals among the demonstrators need to be deported forthwith.

I live fairly close to Washington and would gladly march for the option of feeding these people at Gitmoe to the sharks.

“And the ever dutiful dems are trying to give these mortal enemies the same rights as a US citizen. Unbelievable.”

Now the same group want to follow that up with giving some who will follow in the path of those at Gitmo, citizenship papers to the US. (if they can’t find a reason to deny in 24 hours)

It will be easier to get a green card to all of Americas bounty, than it is for ME to buy a handgun in Maryland.
Now THAT,S A GREAT COUNTRY!

Well, when these people think of 09/11 they think of the Joos who knew about it in advance (tongue in cheek), and the Bush administration that planted bombs in both buildings to bring them down (tongue still in cheek), so what can we expect here?

The left isn't really brain dead. They've just donated it (their collective brain) in advance of death to the worst causes on the planet.

You want to buy a handgun in Maryland. What the hell is wrong with your mind boy. Maryland ,once known as the Free State has been taken over by the Socialist Democrat party.

Aint nothing in Maryland Free anymore.

Democrats have seen to that.
